Myself and 3 other guy friends
decided to take a little spring break trip. Ages of 22-27.
Embarkation: Long lines, but for that many people I can’t complain. I was
so excited to get on the boat it didn’t bother me. If somebody is dropping you
off, prepare to wait in traffic for a good half hour.
Conquest: The boat was great. It was huge and we took the first day just
looking around and trying to figure out where things where. The little maps at
the elevators were used over and over. It can be crowded at times but it never
bothered any of us. We never got in the pools, we mostly sat in the sun and
drank. The staff was good everywhere we went. I was a little disappointed that
there were not many older girls. Everybody was 15-19 or 30-50 it seemed like. We
felt like the only ones on the boat that were in our 20’s but that didn’t stop
us from meeting some girls.
Cabin: Interior room on the 8th floor. We were right near an elevator so
that was awesome. Easy access to the pizza bar. The rooms were very spacious and
for 2 guys it was all you could ask for. We were out till 4 or 5 each night so
the only time we were in the cabin was to sleep a few hours or get ready. Im
sure a window or balcony would be nice but like I said I was hardly in the room.
Dining: We were in the Monet upper floor. When you get on the boat you
should do everything in your power to ask if a young man by the name of Vanburn
is on the boat. He is from Granada. This guy is good, I mean REAL good. We gave
him a $200 tip the last night because he made our experience that much better.
By night 2 he knew what we wanted to drink, what kind of salad we liked and our
social security numbers. He was funny, quick, and just a good guy. So if
you can make sure and ask if Vanburn is on the boat and DEMAND you sit in his
section. His nick name is “Spice”. The Monet room bartender was Mr. Atin and he
was a great guy as well. Hard worker with a big smile. He is from Indonesia. We
had a blast talking with him as well.
Entertainment: We hit up one vegas show that was boring and I left earl.
The Phat Cat comedy was good, but other than that I didn’t bother with it. We
were 4 single guys socializing so we were in the dance rooms most the time. The
piano bar was cool. I really liked karaoke each night. We had a great time
making fun of people and socializing. The disco room was where it was AT! All
the girls dance, and all the guys watch, so me and my friends took advantage of
that. The casino was great as well. I only came out $10 ahead but had a great
time doing it. The 3rd night I believe was the deck party. It was a BLAST. If
you are single and like to dance make sure you get there. Girls are all dancing
and again no guys are around. I think the entertainment was good but we
entertained ourselves quit well.
MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA: Off the boat quick, and wanted back on.
Margaritaville was cool, but then we walked down the road to a beach and we
thought we were going to get shot. I was honestly freaking out. We got offered
weed over and over and over. Even when we were way out in the ocean. The water
was nice though. Make sure you know what taxi you get in, some of them will take
you off and do God knows what to you. The beach was the best part of the trip.
The town is nasty.
Grand Cayman: Off the boat rather quick. We used Capt. Marvins and went
on the stingray excursion. Had a blast on this one. Met a few girls from another
boat and got some good sun. They took good care of us. This took up most the day
so back to the boat we went for a good nap.
Cozumel: It was windy and rainy so we did a little shopping and walking
around then headed back to the boat. It seriously took nearly 2 hours to get off
the boat so by the time we were there we were a little burnt out. The city was
cool, but all the shops are the same crap. We found one clothing store that had
name brand stuff that was more expensive than back home! We got back to the ship
early for another nap. Getting back on the boat took a good while also.
Disembarkment: Make sure you self assist. We were up at 6, and off the
boat by 7. Others that I met called me that night saying they were on the boat
till nearly 11. The lines are long in self assist but they go fast.
This was our first but not our last cruise. We want to do another one this
summer with hopes that some college girls will be on the boat. We all still had
the best time ever. We were sad to come home. My travel agent calls it the post
cruise blues. If any college girl groups are going this summer please let me
know :)
