A good cruise experience. Good weather, fun ports, friendly and helpful staff, some improvements desired. Felt a little taken by all of the 'extras.' The idea of charging for sodas, internet, brand coffee, ATMs, and others left us feeling 'nickel & dimed.' Also, while frozen drinks were mostly comparable to real world, domestic beer was way overpriced.
Mediocre food quality. Meats were tough and bland, some of the seafood was good. We ate dinners by reservation, other meals by buffet. Sandwich bar, pizza bar, and grill were better. Wait staff was excellent. Learned to follow their recommendations.
Very nice. Cleaned several times daily by friendly staffers and had an especially good steward, Oscar. Had three inside staterooms. Kids enjoyed the clever towel 'animals' each evening.
Camp Carnival (kids programs) was very lacking. Out of hundreds of kids onboard, six remained in the program by the last day. Our two desperately did not want to return after the first day. Poorly run, not kid-friendly, and poorly- designed layout for kid areas. Thankfully, our kids found other kids to play with and find fun on their own. Otherwise, their were activities for everyone all day and evening, to suit most tastes. We attended some evening shows that were entertaining.
Attended one planned shore excursion: the pirate ship adventure in Cayman for the kids. Very fun, and priced right. Otherwise, easily found our own transportation (taxi) inport to desired places (beaches, diving, restaurants) at a fraction of the cost that was priced onboard. Did a private dive (scuba-certified) in Cozumel for far less than the ship's excursion price for a large group; this was a walk-up rate (not pre-arranged) at the local dive shop by the cruise pier! This would have applied as well to snorkeling, beach combers, sailing, shopping, etc.
7-day Carribean cruise. 3 fun days at sea, 3 ports (Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, Cozumel).
