Carnival Conquest Feb 27-Mar 6, 2011 Nassau & Freeport, Bahamas & Key West, FL · Entertainment stank. Bad every nite except for one magician lady. She was good. Rest bad and “dancing class” was a joke (no room on a small stage and couldn’t see teacher. Also, she didn’t do any CW line dancing like any of us knew!) Teacher was from Bolivia or Venezuela, not familiar with Texas line dancing. · Lobby entertainment featured singers who couldn’t stay on key. A “Sunday Smash” made it better. Good room for dancing, though. · Food: Lines were long in Cézanne buffet, food not too good except for breakfast—scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles, full-blown yogurt (not lite), omelets (the guy making them was really good). Monet dining—some nites were OK; others, the meat was tough, fish awful. Appetizers were wonderful! Desserts were always wonderful! The deli did have wonderful Reuben’s and fish n’ chips were good. I heard from friends that the pizza was good. Lines at breakfast were awful. · Drinks: WAY overpriced. $7.50 for regular mixed drink with plastic “souvenir glass.” $10 corkage fee if bring your own wine to dining room. Allowed to bring 1 bottle wine per person onboard. Steward sang same Elvis songs to everyone. · Activities: miniature golf free, spa and pool free, gym free. Charged $20 for bingo cards! Ridiculous! · Casino: No regulations, so machines calibrated in their favor. · Room service OK for us. We usually got our coffee and toast, croissants, fruit on time. Others said they were so late that they gave up and went to breakfast buffet. Have to tip. · Room Steward: Ours OK except for sink. Never seemed to clean away the toothpaste splatters. Important to me because I wear hard contact lens and have to fill sink with water. Leery of glasses having read lousy hotel reviews on national news. I always cleaned ours before use. Shower drain didn’t work well and had water on floor, which eventually went to another drain behind toilet, but still, floor wet. · Didn’t see free Bonine. They sold in shop. · Duty free—Perfume, etc. was about the same as Macy’s or Dillard’s, maybe a tad cheaper, but not enough to buy. Saved the Texas tax. Cigarettes were really cheap as no tax, etc. I bought 4 cartons for my dad. They had his brand. · Spa—lots of charges there if choose to get facial, etc. No bargain. · Excursions: OK, about like a Gray Line tour. Nothing spectacular and ALL people wanted a tip. · Most irritations: Nickel and dimed us to death for everything not included in their list of “free.” Every person wanted a tip. Got to where we didn’t get anything that was not listed as “free.” A real downer! Even on vacation! · AC—sometimes worked, sometimes didn’t. Got hot several nites. Heard crewmen running around one nite, trying to get AC fixed. · Bottom line: We were first time cruisers. We would NOT travel on Carnival Conquest (Galveston) in the future. We heard that the Alaska cruise with another cruise line was WAY much better, both in food, entertainment, and activities. This seemed to be the “economy” cruise line. They seem to charge for EVERYTHING extra beyond their freebies, which aren’t much! They didn’t seem to have much for kids (we didn’t have any young ones) besides the pool. They did have a section for kids onboard activities, but it didn’t seem fantastic for the little ones. My grandson would have been bored. Screeming kids at dinner in Monet dining room. Ugh.

Buffet lines way long, overcrowded, claustrophobic. People rude. Food sometimes OK, sometimes not. Desserts always wonderful. Reuben and Fish n Chips good. Monet Dining at night had "iffy" quality. Stroganoff tough, Filet Mignon overcooked. Fish awful. Appetizers very good. Could get more than one. Room service was good for us. Always got on time, except once; one time they forgot spoons for coffee. Otherwise OK.

Stateroom was OK, no problems except for daily cleaning of the sink. Toothpaste splatters never cleaned which was bad for me as I wear contacts and had to use sink. Shower did not drain well and always overflowed into overflow behind toilet. Kept wet. Lots of clean towels, had pool towels, robes. Bed always made up daily and turned down at night. Mints. We had balcony which was nice for sitting outside and looking at sights.

Stank. Entertainment practically non-existent. Casino and bars smoky and in their favor (no regs). Pools & hot tubs always full. Dancing teacher tried to do on small stage, too many people, didn't seem to know how to do that. Our group thought awful. On deck, loud band always playing as they plied expensive drink sales. Lobby singers were the best and had plenty of room for dancing.

Excursions OK, about like Gray Line with short stops and no time to really enjoy in entirety. Always rushed to get back on van. Saw some very intersting sites. They were worth it in Bahamas. We skipped in Key West as we had been there before.

Would not recommend. Heard other cruises were much better. We were disappointed with whole experience.
