We have been cruising with Carnival Starting in 2008 for a total of 13 cruises. We like the informal friendly atmosphere that Carnival offers, but the food has always been below par.

Until our November cruise to the Bahamas, the entertainment was good to very good. We were extremely disappointed in the entertainment this cruise. It appears that Carnival is making major cuts to save money. The ship was having engine problems and it appeared that the Captain was less than honest with the passengers. After some bumping and grinding sounds the ship stopped in the middle of no where. After about 15 minutes the Captain announced that they were making routine test on the engines. Fact is, they were not making test, they were having problems.

13 Cruises ... and the MENU has been the same every time. While some Chefs season better than others, the food is below par. Breakfast is about the only meal we looked forward to. Usually skipped lunch, nothing really good, sometimes a sandwich. The last two evenings we just couldn't stand going back to the dining room. Just at a sandwich or pizza to get by till we could get off the ship. I don't believe any of these Chiefs are trained in American Cooking, and other than a few dishes, the food is poor. Examples ... Southern Fried Chicken ...Southern WHERE? Meat loaf?.. not like any I ever tasted. Bar B Q ...????? ha! The MENU needs REVISED and Chefs need to be U.S. trained .... not INDIA or WHEREVER.

The entertainment has really gone down hill on this cruise. A New Diva Show was introduced and we thought it was a JOKE. Full Orchestra is gone... only a combo .... fancy costumes gone .... lots of digital lighting introduced to replace stage sets and costumes .... it didn't work for us , and lots of other walked out. There were 8 performers in the show ... and at least half of the show was taken up with some silly crap involving two couples from the audience with some silly clothing design stuff. it came across as just a way to fill time to make it look like the show was almost an hour long. The digital lighting became annoying after awhile. LEGEND show ..GONE and replaced by a very poor replacement... VERY disappointed. Found the assistant Cruise Director to be silly and Arrogant.

Didn't uses excursions

Had it not been for several folks that we met on board .. which turned out to be lots of fun ... the trip would have been a total flop. Last year we went on 6 Cruise, this year 3. Based on this trip... we haven't planned a Carnival cruise .... we are considering changing to another Ship line.
