My family and I just arrived home from our cruise. Most of the cruise was wonderful, but the embarkation and debarkation was a total disaster. There has to be a better way! Once on this ship it was a very pleasant cruise. The staff was terrific, and our bus boy went out of his way to entertain our teenage children. The offshore trips were okay. We went to Rosehall Beach in Jamaica, which was very nice. It is a great spot for families. It has some nice shady areas and an excellent swimming area. We stopped at Margaritaville on the way back to the ship—it was horrible. We thought the trampolines and waterslide would be fun for our preteen & teenager. It is just a big college drinkfest.
The shopping was awful as well. The Stingray tour in Grand Cayman was fabulous. We took a combo tour that brought us to Hell and to the Turtle Farm. The Turtle Farm was interesting, but I would skip Hell. Our last tour in Cozumel was the Fiesta Party Boat. Again, I thought the activities at the beach would be fun—trampolines, a climbing wall in the water, volleyball etc. The trampolines and the beach were over crowded. One climbing wall was broken, the other was over some rock, and several children including my own were scraped up. The boat was another drinkfest. I have no objection to drinking, but the tour people were pushing tequila in our faces—even after we refused several times!!! It would be nice if they billed the trips appropriate for families. My children are not that young, but it bothered me to see tequila poured down throats as entertainment.
Our room was great. It was a balcony room on the Upper Deck. We had plenty of storage for four. The beds were comfortable. We had a king and bunks. The room steward was invisible, and the room was very clean. The dining was very good. Some choices were excellent, while others were just okay.
The on board activities were okay. Chair holding made it difficult to sit with our friends. I wish that some of the younger children were supervised. I witnessed many falls on slippery decks due to running. It was difficult for the staff to keep this entire area clean because it was very busy. Adults & children alike spilled food and left drinks everywhere! The Lido buffet was very good. We loved the Wok, and we discovered the Seafood buffet upstairs on the last day--it was fabulous.
The entertainment was okay. The first r-rated comedian was fabulous. We let our older son (not quite 17) come with us to see it.
It was barely r-rated. The second r-rated show, however, should have been billed as x-rated. It was not appropriate for most adults. We loved Marcus Anthony who sang R&B. Debarkation was bedlum. Half of the passengers are given VIP slips for early debarkation. They are all told to be in the lounge by 7 a.m. So many people were in this area. We would have been happy to wait in our room. We were all released at the same time to find our luggage. I have bruised shins and ankles! My luggage was not together.
The cruise ship was beautiful, and I would take this cruise again with some adjustments to my choices.
