Well...I really enjoyed the Carnival Destiny...I am having a hard time trying to
figure out what the heck the problem that these people are having...It was
great!! My husband and I went to celebrate our 5th anniversary and had a blast.
Fortunately, we had a gorgeous suite on the 7th floor...with a large balcony and
enjoyed every minute of it...
We didn't do very much in San Juan...we were to anxious to board the ship and
get a drink...We boarded very smoothly. There was no wait considering we had a
suite...so that made us a member of the Skipper's Club!!! We made sure to make a
stop in Duty Free and grab a few bottles of liquor, threw them in our carry-ons,
and walked right onto the boat!! right past liquor check-in!!
St. Thomas was wonderful. No need for a sea excursion...just did a little
shopping in town (as soon as you exit the boat)...then took a tour of the island
with one of the thousand tour guides anxiously awaiting for $15 to $20. I
learned that tourism is there ONLY source of income!!! Nothing else!! They
really thrive off our American dollars...and it is expensive there!!! Our tour
was sooooo woth it...She explained everything, answered every question...I think
her name was Denise and she was great. We went to Meagans Bay, Coki Beach,
Sapphire Beach, and stopped for shopping...She showed us were Michael Jordan's
house was...it was awesome!!
Dominica is very tribal. The people are very nice. We got off the boat and just
hung out in all of the local shops before deciding to hit the beach...We went
back to our rooms, changed, and scouted out the best price for Mero Beach...We
paid $15 for a round trip and the cab driver actually waits for you while you
hang out on the beach. Well guess what???...the beach had BLACK SAND!!! It can
get very hot...You can have drinks on the beach...I do not think we paid more
than $2 per drink...rum punch, coconut punch, passion fruit punch...Their
Dominican beer tastes pretty good too...
Barbados was awesome!!! We left the boat prepared for the beach and went righ
tto the Boatyard...It is a lot of fun for a $12 entrance fee...the 12 bucks
includes your entry, a beach chair, and a drink of your choice. It is worth
it...There are water trampolines and water rock climbing. it is a lot of
fun...My husband and I had quite a few drinks...but from what I can
remember...it was a blast!!!
Aruba was a lot of fun also...we just caught a cab to Palm Beach (10 bucks) and
hung out on the beach ALL DAY!!! There is a nice beach bar...you can have food
and drinks...their menu included things like pizza, burgers, nachos...and it is
all very inexpensive. You can rent a beach chair for like 8 dollars each or just
lie on your carnival towel...which I saw dozens of people doing!! We went back
to the boat, changed, then hit the town!!!...Wow...there are plenty bars and
several restaurants...We really enjoyed Iguana Joe's, Mambo Jambo, and Carlos n'
Charlies...Every seems to be stumbling back onto the boat by 9:30...
Overall...it was a great time!!! We met a lot of great people...there are
several people that will spend the majority of their day at the Lido deck
bar...and there are those who look forward to getting dressed up and socializing
at the piano bar...I truly think there is something for EVERYONE!! The food is
never-ending!! The Caesar salads in the 24 hr pizzeria are the best...I miss
them!!! The room service definitely comes in handy at 3am!! We dined in the
Universal Dining Room...and enjoyed it every time (we dined there 5 nights) If
you do not like your seating arrangements they are extremely willing to satisfy
you...the couple we were seated with at first were a bit uptight so we switched
after our first night!!! We got a table for 2 and that made it extremely
romantic...Enjoyed it and will do it again!!!
