This was our first cruise and we had a blast. My husband and I took our 2 daughters on our first cruise ever and none of us knew what to expect(except from what you hear from others). We were both nervous about how it would feel and if any of us would get sick. We decided to use a travel agent since this was our first, let them do the work and help us make the decision on where and with whom to cruise with. Well our travel agent was great and we took their advice and decided to go with the Carnival Destiny to the western carribean in June 2010. After booking we looked at all the reviews about the Destiny and was a little worried we had picked the wrong boat. But I kept thinking that everyone is different and some people you can not please no matter what you try. I am so glad we booked before looking at the reviews because our cruise could not have been better. I have no complaints about the destiny at all. It was a large ship but to me it never seemed as crowded as I would have thought(with the exception of the buffet on the lido deck). We had a great oceanview room and it was bigger than I expected. Our room steward was great and so was our waitors at dinner every night. We are already looking at our next cruise and the destiny is the ship of our choice again. When my teenager was not ready to leave, nor my 9 year old, I knew they had a great time. In the future I will not listen to the negative reviews, and have decided your enjoyment is what you make it. Enjoy Cruising, we sure did. :)

Great, it was everywhere you looked. The lido deck is great for hamburgers and hot dogs, the grand buffet is more toward salads, meats and vegetables. The dessert bar was amazing and the pizza was wonderful. Our formal dining room was the best, we were treated as if we were at a 5 star restaurant.

We had a great ocean view room, bigger than expected. We had a king size bed with a sofa sleeper and an upper. Our bathroom was on the small size, but only needed it in the mornings, and before bed. We had a chair at a vanity (great for us girls to do our make-up), nightstand, tv, phone, and safe.

There was always something to do. We enjoyed a juggling show followed by a comedian that I laughed at the entire time. We played bingo, and try to learn how to do the towel animals. My teenager lived at the Circle C, she made so many friends and kept her from getting bored the entire cruise. My youngest kept me at the lido deck swimming for most of the days at sea. My husband went and found his own things to do and met us for dinner at night. It gave us all something different to do and we all enjoyed everything.

We booked our shore excursion in Jamaica through Carnival since the problems they were having in Kingston. We had a great time at the Bamboo Beach, and at no time did we feel unsafe or harassed at all. We also ported at Grand Caymans where we booked our own excursion with Dolphin Discovery. We got a dolphin ride on a boogy board, a dolphin belly ridge, hand shake, kiss, and swim time. We also visited the Turtle Farm, it was a little small but ok for us.

Great first cruise, would not have changed anything. We stayed on the 1st deck since we spent extra to get an ocean view room, and I am glad we did. We were the first ones off at every port, and we loved hearing the waves splash against the boat at night(rocked us right to sleep). Other than the waves we never knew we was on the water, no movement at all.
