Ship: Destiny

Itinerary: Caribbean

This was my first cruise and I went with my family and my aunt and cousins. Would I go on another cruise after this one? Probably not. Would I take another Carnival cruise? No. I did not enjoy this cruise like I thought I would.

The ship did not have many things to do...the same bars and clubs got boring after the second night. I was able to drink since I am 22, but anyone who is 18-20 and were hoping to drink and have a good time, it's not going to happen. The rules were more strict than I thought for a vacation. I understand that the drinking age is 21, but have something else for a 20 year old to do to have fun. Another downside to the alcohol is that the prices are New York prices. The last cruise from Carnival my aunt went on the drinks were so cheap. They were so expensive on the Destiny...I am talking $7.00 for a small glass of Kettle One vodka and club soda. The special drinks were pretty strong, which was great, but not worth $6.25.

The crew were not as friendly as I expected either. One female bartender in particular was extremley rude to my family, I was shocked. Our cabin stewardess kept coming into our room after knocking once and did not even wait for us to come to the door. She walked in on my sister while she was changing. We were not pleased with that at all.

The food at the buffet was mediocre, not as good as I hoped. The dining room however was excellent, and the staff there were great.

St. Thomas was nice. We just walked around the shopping area, where there were many shops, but majority of them were just jewelery.

Dominca was disgusting right off the boat. The only reason people get off the boat there is to take a bus tour of the island, which I heard was beautiful. Right where the boat docked, however, was horrible. It reminded me of the nastiest parts of New York City. People were harassing me and my brother right when we stepped off and it smelled horrible. To me, it was a waste of a day that should have been spent somewhere better.

Barbados was amazing. It was hot, the water was so warm and clear. The people were friendly too. Ask the cab driver to take you to the Boatyard, it's great. The bar is on the beach and there are rafts and trampolines in the water, so much fun. The jetski and hair-braiding people on the beach were very pushy and annoying.

Aruba, I was expecting so much more. It was entirely too windy so we were always covered in sand. The water was not as clear as Barbados and not as warm. We went for a few dips in the Radisson pool because it was so warm and nice. The hotels looked gorgeous, but the beach did not impress me. However, the night life was fun. Go to a bar called Carlos and Charlies, it is a 5 minute walk off the boat. It was so much fun, I wish we had a bar like the in Jersey.

My aunt has been on so many cruises and this one made her not want to take another Carnival cruise. I am not interested in taking another cruise either. Overall, this cruise was dissapointing. I would not recommend it.
