Cruise Line: Carnival
Ship: Destiny
Sailing Date: January 23rd, 2005
Itinerary: Southern Caribbean

This is our first time cruising, my husband and I went with 6 other people which made it a lot of fun. We picked this ship because of the itinerary and the price. The ship is almost 10 years old and is being to look dated but you don’t come for the décor, you come for the good food and entertainment! The embarkation went smoothly, we got to San Juan a day early and spent the day until we boarded the ship at around 6 pm. There were no lines or waiting. It is hard to find your way around the ship at first but you get your bearings after awhile. The pools are a bit on the smaller side and the days at sea, you would be lucky to find a chair around. St Thomas is great shopping, great for jeweler for every other store is a jewellery store. I wish our port stay in St Thomas was longer. Dominica was a port that the vessel shouldn’t have even bothered to stop at for there wasn’t much to see or do, we walked into town to the 2 stores they recommend and then took a cab back to the vessel because we didn’t do any excursions. Barbados was nice, took a tour around the island for about $20 per person and they dropped us back off at the Malibu beach. Then at Aruba, we did the jet screamer boat, which was a lot of fun in the water, other than that we walked around the shopping area and went to Carlos and Charles for dinner. Can’t say that it was top notch and we felt like we were ripped off due to how they exchange the Aruban currency to USD but the atmosphere is the reason why you go there.

All in all, the cruise was a lot of fun but it all depends on what kind of a vacation you enjoy the most. This was our first time and I can’t say that we would do it again for we enjoy the relaxing on the beach and doing whatever, whenever and not having to pay for drinks because you are at an all inclusive resort. The cabins were okay, a bit small but to be expected. This is a good way to go to different islands that you probably wouldn’t visit otherwise.
