This was my first cruise ever and thanks to Carnival, it won't be my last, I had a ball!

I was very pleased with the security and check in process in Miami. You print your bag tags at home and drop them attached to your bags at the curb. We were on board in less than an hour. We really enjoyed the cabin and this cruise turned out to be a fantastic value since we booked last minute.

We were on time to all of our ports and except for a few bumpy nights everything was very well done.

We found the food to be consistently good and there was plenty of variety. This applied to the buffet, the burger and Mexican stations and the main dining rooms. There was a bit of a wait for eggs to be cooked to order, but you would not want to do this every day. I did do the pizza at 2am for the heck of it.

We saved the steakhouse for the last night and it was as good as any I have ever tried.

The best hint I can give is try to eat healthy. You will fell better went you are going off the ship and give the gym 20 minutes a day!

The inside cabin exceeded our expectations. Because we got a good deal, I expected to tiniest, most boring cabin possible. Not! The cabin was a stateroom with a very comfortable queen bed. There was enough room to move around and the storage was more than adequate. The shower/bath/toilet was great. Not big, but suitable for use.

The TV was good as we could see outside via the live video feeds. The room was cleaned very well everyday and the housekeeper left the list of activities every night (along with chocolates).

The lighting was adequate but there was only one electrical socket. Hint: Bring a short extension cord.

The entertainment was a bit weak but still up to our expectations. We enjoyed the two shows in the Amber Palace - it was never really full. The comedy club was good but overcrowded for the late shows. There was enough to do on-board on the 2 or 3 sea days but if this was a transatlantic voyage, you could get bored if you crave stage-style shows.

The pools were always full and running over so we avoided them. I elected to go swimming in the ocean in Honduras and that was a better choice. We tried the hot tub at the stern and that was good enough.

The bingo was pretty boring but I went as my wife enjoys that.

Most passengers seem to avoid the excursions offered on board. I say this judging by the group we were seated with and observations at the dock. The excursions are never a bargain but there are some advantages. You know what you are going to get, you can arrange and pay on the ship and you have a faster start when you arrive. That is you don't have to go looking for something to do and take your chances with the locals.

In Cozumel, we took the jeep tour with Maria and it was fun. They stop at at cultural center that I found interesting; others in the group wanted to get to the tequila without delay. The south shore was too rough for swimming but you got to see the Island in a few hours.

I enjoyed this cruise very much. The cruise line was on target with schedules, food was good and entertainment was fine. Loved the cabin, Cozumel, Belize, Honduras and Cayman. We took a bus tour (self-arranged) in Belize and Cayman and stayed at the beach in Honduras. It is worth noting that the stop at Mahogany Bay (Isla Roatan) is a purpose built facility - dock, shops and beach for the arriving cruise ships.

In order to save a few dollars for the Casino, we tried to take the train from our hotel to the Port of Miami. We were told the Freedom Tower is the closest stop - it is but TOO far to walk. You need a taxi to travel the last 2 miles to the port. On return, the taxi to the airport is a fixed rate of $24. Next time we will use the Carnival transport options.

It was a sad return to the beautiful city of Miami on Sunday morning. We had a wonderful time and are planning a southern Caribbean trip for next May.
