CarnivalGlory Cruise Review

Tom Sodemann

Age: 49
Occupation: Executive
Number of Cruises: 2
Cruise Line: Carnival
Ship: Glory
Sailing Date: August 21st, 2004
Itinerary: Eastern Caribbean

The ship was beautiful. The theme "Colors" was done wonderfully throught the entire ship. The main atrium ceiling was like a huge caliedescope (sp?) and I could watch it for hours.
My only disappointment was that I decided this time to book an excursion through the ship because after I added up all the costs of the private tour to the same place, it came out to the same price. Blue Lagoon in Nassau was a great island to go to but the private company would have gotten me there an hour earlier, provided a guaranteed seat (covered top deck) and not crowded me on like a herd of cattle. But, it was still fun so what the hey. St Thomas was great and very pretty. I hired a driver for the day and we experienced just about everything from mountain top vistas to Magan's bay, Coki beach, snorkeling, street fair, local restaurants, etc... .

St Maarten's main town's streets were torn up for remodeling but shopping was still great and the beach was fantastic with lots of activities and buckets of beer (6 bottles) for $10.
On ship, the shows were great, the food plentiful and tasty. We also went to the dining rom every night and had a wonderful waiter and assistant. He did simple magic tricks at our table every night. When we got home we bought some tricks and shipped them to him.

Weather was perfect, all mechanicals worked on the ship. (we never had any problems with elevators, video games, air conditioning, slot machines, etc..)

The kids (many) behaved for the most part and seemed to be having a lot of fun. Our party was a total of 11 with 4 adults and 7 kids ages 14 to 21. We brought a thin rope and tied our balcony door open each night.

before cruise, we purchased alcohol at a local liquor store (ABC liquor). You can buy cases of Miller Lite in 16 oz plastic bottles (which is what they serve on the ship) and then walk around drinking them as if someone served them to you. Cabin steward kept them on ice for us all week!

Tip: Bring large Dog Biscuits for when you snorkel as the fish will smother you to eat the biscuit. (Very cool!)

I would highly recommend the Glory and Carnival to any "Fun Seeking" individual or family!
