This was our 3rd cruise with Carnival
Cruise lines and I honestly cannot say anything negative about Carnival and
their service.
We chose this particular cruise because it stopped at a couple of locations that
we had not been to on previous cruises (St Lucia and St Kitts). We also chose it
because it had two days at sea going to the islands and two days back again to
Fort Lauderdale, which we always enjoy immensely.
Embarkation was very well organized as always. We had a very nice surprise on
arrival. We had booked an obstructed view, outside cabin (budget dictated) and
were advised that we had been upgraded to a balcony. In 8 cruises this was a
first for us and it will make it really difficult to go back to an inside again
and even, possibly, to another cruise line.
Our first surprise came when we entered our cabin. There was luggage on the bed
and there appeared to be people on our balcony. I went to the door of the
balcony and almost caused the couple there a heart attack as we walked out on to
the balcony. They quickly confirmed that they also had been booked into that
room so we called the Pursers desk to clarify. The gentleman there pretty much
told us that this could not possibly be the case and had to attend in person to
verify. To make a long story short they had indeed made a mistake as the couple
in the room had also been upgraded to a suite and, because they boarded early,
had not been advised of same. I offered to take the suite as they appeared to be
settled in, but, for some reason, they declined.
We met and chatted with this couple several times throughout the cruise so the
event was not a lost cause.
Our inconvenience was later rewarded with a complimentary bottle of wine.
Without going into boring detail, the remainder of the cruise was idyllic.
The weather was fantastic, the food was great, the Casino was not good (as it
does on most ships) St Lucia and St Kitts was interesting and typical of the
Caribbean so I probably will not rush back there.
Overall, Carnival made this a cruise to remember with extremely personable
staff, gourmet dining, a view from our balcony that we will be ever thankful
for, with breakfasts as the sun rose and cocktails as the sun set while the
ocean lazily sailed by.
Debarkation was a breeze and well organized. Will I sail with Carnival Cruise
Lines again? You bet I will!!!
