The ship is Carnival, pretty basic, but
worth the price, food and service were much better than last Carnival trip. VIP
Pass is recommended if you can get one do so, I was on board in minutes,
lunching and drinking while the line went on forever. Getting off is a breeze as
well. Bring the cigars home if you want them!
I only cruise for my teenage sons, always plenty of teens their age, perfect
vacation and they stay out late at night.
Had an extended Balcony suite for four, plenty of room, one bed is hung from the
ceiling and goes up during the day so the room is fine for four.
The ports.
We booked local tour guides suggested by TammLynn who had written a previous
cruise review (thanks TammLynn). We also got the same tours with more
personalized attention for a lot less money. The lack of a huge group was a
bonus!
Colon, Panama
We also went with Mario of myfriendmario on the tour. I made a reservation with
him by email and went on the equivalent of Carnival's grand tour to the Indian
village and the Gutan locks. It is a long tour because you have to go into a
remote part of Panama for the Indian village which makes for a very interesting
drive. Our guide was really great and made sure we were back in time (we even
had 30 minutes to shop at the port). Unlike the Carnival tour we also got to
climb up a waterfall and go for a swim which was really refreshing! Since we had
about 25 people in our group, he charged us $60 per person (smaller groups may
be slightly more). The ship charged $145 per person. This is his email mario@myfriendmario.com
Limon, Costa Rica
We went with Charlie Soto tours here to the Jungle Breeze zip line (Awesome!) 16
Lines we went down, I believe the Cruise does only 4. The price was $89 per
person (the ship charges $135 for the zip line tour) I would recommend these
guys as well. The email address is okeydokeytours@hotmail.com Charlie is
extremely accommodating and personally escorted us back to town as we only
wanted the zip line tour, he gave us a nice sight seeing trip back and pointed
out some good shops.
Belize City, Belize
We went with Timmy at CAVE-TUBING.COM. This is a really funny family guy (3
kids) who responded to all questions. He made it a point to give us exactly the
tour we wanted. We went through 2 caves (quite an experience). What was really
incredible was the hundreds of Carnival cruisers on their shore excursion
pouring into the water all clustered together in a huge noisy group going
through only the second cave, they got half the tour at twice the price, you
will hear that motto from these guys the whole trip. Cost $45-55 per person
depending on group size (Carnival charges $85 per person). The ride back on the
bus was a hoot, big bus, narrow roads, but they make it quite fun.
Key points, no bug spray needed on any of these tours, that was a waste of money
and extra to carry. All 3 tours provided cold water, soda and beer, so we never
were thirsty. Zip line place has a nice little outside bar at the last line,
cold beer extremely cheap.
