This was our first cruise with Carnival. The Legend is showing wear and tear but for the price it was acceptable. We purchased an extended balcony cabin that was well worth the extra $$. That being said, be sure you're not located above any of the clubs - the noise is horrible until at least 1 AM. All of the attendants are extremely polite and work very hard to make your cruise as comfortable as possible. Our room Stewart, Herald, was fabulous. Unfortunately, the weather kicked into nasty gear on the long leg back to Tampa and the ship developed engine trouble allowing us to cruise at only 13 knots - not enough to push us through the waves but rather to roll up and down. I understand that several hundred were ill. Rather wished I could die. Carnival was not in control of the weather, but the way the delay was handled bordered on negligent. We received minimal information on how long we would be delayed and no help with requests for assistance on flights, etc. Naturally, their internet was jammed, our cell phones didn't work, long lines at Guest Services that took hours only to be told to come back when we had our flights settled. Once we had some standby flights info, we waited all of the last day without receiving a hotel voucher for that night. At the last moment we went again to Guest Services to check and it was promptly printed out! Everyone was so frustrated. What if we'd had to get on life boats? Two young couples walking off the ship ahead of us were leaving with no voucher and had no idea where to go except to sit at the airport. And from the Captain, "thank you for your patience and for sailing with Carnival." The best part - they were turning that ship around and sending it back out! Never again.

The food was good but not fantastic.

Our stateroom was always clean and comfortable, but all in all they are pretty plain. The bathroom - especially the shower - is larger than other cruise lines we've been on and that was a pleasant surprise.

We took a glass bottom boat excursion in Cozumel which was about $40 each and well worth it. The Mayan ruins and Wallace river tour in Belize is very informative, about $100 each, lasts about 6 hours. The guides have groups of about 25 so you're not in a huge herd and they provide a good background about the country, politics, people and it's history. The river portion is pretty slow and easy and they work hard to spot the wildlife. We saw howler monkeys, Crocs, manatees, great blue herons, iguanas and tropical birds.

The ports were very nice with Roatan being a surprise. We'd been there several years ago shortly after the hurricane went through and it is remarkably lovely now. Lush and green and very, very hot.
