The cruise had several pros and cons for me. I can't say enough about the service we received on the ship. In fact, I have never received such good service on land. For me, the attention paid to me by the staff was the hi-light of my vacation. Unfortunately, I was sadly disappointed in the ports that we visited. Grand Cayman was flat and unappealing. The water park we visited in Cozumel was a complete waste of money. Roatan was a blast. We hired a tour guide from Bowden Tours and were taken anywhere we wanted to go. Belize City was the most depressing and poverty stricken place I have ever visited. The temperature and humidity were unbearable. Took a city tour and went to the ruins. The tour was very informative, perhaps too much so. Our tour guide didn't stop talking for an hour and a half. Just way too much info - and I'm a trivia nut!!

The food in the dining room was excellent and the service couldn't have been any better. After one night, our waitress, Desi, was calling us by name and remembering our preferences. We had the early dinner. If I had it to do over again, I would choose the later one. Some days we didn't get back to the ship until 5, were worn out, and the last thing we wanted to do was to have to rush to shower and dress for dinner. Initially, we really enjoyed the food from the various buffets. After a week, it started to taste like cafeteria food.

The room was fine. We had 3 single beds in there, and there was still room to maneuver. The best thing about our room was the shower (to die for), the balcony, and the attention that was given to the room by the staff. Every night we came back to our room to find our beds turned down, a candy on the pillow for each of us, and a unique towel animal. We couldn't wait to get back to the room each night to find out what the new animal would be. In fact, we took a picture of every one of them. The last day of the trip you can buy a book that tells you how to make them. (My mother bought one!)

There were activities to keep one busy just about every minute of every day. I should have partaken in more of them, but I ended up spending most of my free time in the casino. Jen, the cruise director was great. We did play bingo, listened to karaoke, went to 2 shows, and listened to the comedian (even though I'm 55, I was embarrassed to hear some of the material beside my 86 year old mother.

I would love to cruise again. Next time, however, I will try to visit ports that are not so poverty stricken. Belize City really put a damper on our vacation.
