Itinerary: Western Caribbean

The trip was for 7 night in the western Caribbean. We missed one port of call, Grand Cayman due to the weather. We were compensated the port taxes only of about $15.00 and spent an extra day at sea. I wish we could have gone to another port . Overall, the trip was fine. We had good food and really good entertainment. Service level of the employees is excellent. This is our second trip on The Legend in 2 years.

The food was great. We opted for the dining at our leisure so we would not be pushed to strict schedules. It was a bit disappointing to see that you now pay extra if you want sushi. Two years ago it was included as a part of the dining on the lido deck. Service was exceptional. The only negative was a waiter we had in the open dining one night made weak excuses about the reason my food was cold. He offered no resolution so we merely requested another waiter. Problem was solved.

Cabin was clean and our Steward was attentive and accommodating and always had a great attitude. The TV stations are very limited and one movie was shown over and over the entire cruise.

The entertainment was more than we expected. The Mardi Gras Show was exciting and as good as a Broadway show. The physical comedian was a big hit with my family. Also the table magician we came to know was quite good. During the day, I felt the entertainment options were not the greatest. I would have enjoyed a movie or perhaps some interactive games during the day that didn't include hairy chest. Our 13 year old grandson was a bit board at times during sea days. Although he signed up for the Young Teen program, for some reason they were never in the area with the Wii games or meeting area. So he was had to participate with adults in contests and games.

The excursions are a bit pricey for our family. So we book our own and get a far better deal. We have taken some of them in the past and they were fine, but we are not opposed to booking on our own at a far better price.

This trip was to celebrate our grandson's 13th birthday. He had a great time. Since we took this same cruise 2 years ago, we did not experience the element of surprise this time. But we are not disappointed in any way. Cruising is still the best bargain for a vacation.
