Cruise Line: Carnival
Ship: Legend
Sailing Date: August 11th, 2004
Itinerary: Western Caribbean

I don’t know what to say first, the good news or the bad news. Well the bad news first. The Legend was scheduled to depart New York at 4 PM but left past 6pm. That’s not even the worst. I woke up the next morning to hear that the engine had stop working and that our cruising speed was reduced to half. The captain said we would have to skip the Island of Puerto Rico, Tortola, and St.Thomas and we would have to travel to Bermuda instead. I was mad because last year I took a cruise aboard the Carnival Pride to Bermuda and had stayed there for 3 1/2 days and now I was going again for another 2 1/2 days. Carnival compensated us with $150 per person and also told guest that if they wished to leave in Bermuda they would pervide the airfare plus a 5 day free cruise. When the Captain announced that message during the day and at night it was Captain's night 3 men attacked the Captain and a mob of almost 300 people crowded around the pursers desk demanding a refund. Everyone on the ship was appalled on the decision that the captain made but I think it was a good one because of the many hurricanes and tropical storms in the Caribbean. Overall I would have rated the cruise a 4.5 out of 10. After Bermuda witch in fact it took 3 1/2 days to get there from New York the engine was fixed and we had a smooth ride home. Now the part that really pissed me off was that the captain knew about the problem about the engine for about a week before the cruise has even started. That was the bad news, the good news was the service was great, everyone was nice that worked there and the weather was great. So I hope that everyone that booked this cruise would have a great time when they sail to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and Tortola because we took the hit to fix the engine so you can have a better time over there.
