I recently took a cruise to San Juan, St. Thomas, and Tortola. It was an 8
day cruise leaving from NY on the Carnival Legend Cruise Ship. The Ship
tipped to the side after leaving Tortola on Wednesday the 13th. We were
heading back to NY. The ship was sailing by computer at the time and the
Captain Claudio Cupisti claimed there was a "Glitch" in the computer
system, then they said a fuse blew out and caused the ship to tip.
People were injured, one man collapsed, and many things were broken at the
bars and dinning halls. A couch flew from the 3rd floor down the open
foyer to the 2nd floor. I was grabbing on for dear life on the banister of
the 3rd floor. People on the top deck were sliding to one side. The pools
were emptied as the water drained out of the pool by the tip.
This was my first time on a cruise and I never expected this to happen.
People were walking around with life jackets on for the rest of the night.
The ship tilted so much that all we saw through the windows was the sky.
People claimed that all they saw through their cabin windows on the 1st
and 2nd floor was the water. It was the scariest thing I've ever
experienced!
It will be a very long time before I get on another cruise ship, but I can
assure you it won't be with Carnival or Captain Cupisti!
