Guess What, I too was on that wonderful cruise - wherein the boat almost
capsized! I don't think I'll ever forget the sheer panic that we all felt those
few minutes when the boat was tipping. I thank god I was in my room, it was
approximately 5:10pm and we were getting ready for our dinner, when all of a
sudden it felt like we were tipping over, everything was flying off our counters
and I said to my husband - "Are we tipping over? He ran and looked out the
window and he said "I think we are" My 3 kids started to panic - I immediately
called my mom who was on deck 1. She was screaming that her window was under the
water. My nephews both fell off their beds. It was pretty scary - we left our
room to see what was happening and we saw some people in life jackets - now that
was scary - (because god forbid the ship did fall on it's side - do you really
think any of their rescue drills would work.) We made it to the main deck and
waited to hear from the Captain - finally he came over the loud speaker and
announced that the ships "list" - I guess that's another word for almost
flipping over - was due to a computer glitch and that the problem was now
corrected. Well I did not feel that safe on the rest of the trip then - we still
had 2 long days at sea. One of the highlights after that was the karoke show
that night in the follies lounge - when a guy got up and sang "Don't rock the
boat, don't tip the boat over!" Everybody roared.
So, I still don't really know if I like really cruises or not. One thing is for
sure I would never cruise from NY again it was just too long at sea with out
seeing land - I really felt trapped after the "TIP"....No word from Carnival
about their mistake - let's see if they make it up to all the cruisers that they
scared out of their wits!
