Carnival Legend Cruise Review
Embarkation: When we arrived at Fort Lauderdale, the scene was a mad house. The ship was three hours late returning from the previous cruise because there was a medical emergency and they had to drop off a passenger in Key West. Even with all this craziness, we were on board in 1 hour and 50 minutes. We booked a deck 8 balcony, and were very happy with the room. The room stewards did a great job. We always had clean towels and the water pressure in the shower was fantastic (This is important to me). Also liked the towel animals every night.
I came to discover that the ship's itinerary had been rearranged due to the number of ships that were scheduled to be in port on the same day in St Marteen. This caused us a lot of problems because we had schedule an excursion thru Shoretrips and because we were not given advance notice had no way of contacting them to cancel. The pursers desk was not helpful, and in fact very arrogant. I was able to contact Shoretrips after the cruise and was given a full refund. I would not hesitate to give them another try next time.
The food in the buffet was good. They had a nice variety. The food in the restaurant was very good on some nights and just o.k. on other nights.
The entertainment was also good. The Legend has a 10 piece orchestra which was a pleasant surprise to both my husband and myself. The steel drum band that played at the pool in the afternoons was not very good, but they had a jazz three piece that played at the cigar bar each evening that we would have liked to listen to, but unfortunately we could not stand the cigar smoke.
Martinique was beautiful but unless you are booked on an excursion, there is nothing to do there. We wen't on the Catamaran and snorkel trip and were very happy with this trip.
In Barbados we ended up having to changed to the kayak trip which to our surprise ended up being our favorite excursion,
In St. Marteen we did the Little Divi beach trip which was a waste of money.
We were promised a live band and all they had was a d.j. playing hip-hop. We could have done our own excursion to the beach and saved a lot of money. The island was beautiful, and I can't wait to go back there.
This was our second cruise, the first on the Grand Princess. I would recommend both of them. Even though everything wasn't perfect, it was a wonderful week, and I can't wait to go again.
One more thing I would like to mention, we were given no trouble when we put a box of wine in our suitcases. As long as you drink it in your room, no one seems to care.
