What a disappointment! We sailed on the Carnival Victory in 2002 and used that wonderful experience for the standard to judge other cruises we have taken. None of the other cruise lines met the expectations we had from the Carnival Victory experience so we decided to sail with Carnival again. Needless to say, along with the cutbacks the cruise industry has been making Carnival has cut way back on their services and quality of experiences as well.

The ships are larger now but the support staff has been cut. We had to wait one hour and 45 minutes in the entertainment auditorium for a tender to take us to the first stop Half Moon Cay. They only had 3 small tenders running so we waited impatiently in the auditorium where they kept us captive. Carnival did nothing to entertain those folks waiting so the tempers of the passengers were flairing. A group of spanish speaking travelers got very restless and staged a mini protest by stomping their feet and yelling in unison. The Carnival crew member who was manning the microphone asked everyone to be patient and told the group he would bring a Spanish speaking crew member out to address them but never did. Crying, impatient children made the situation worse.

Cheap, unappetizing "all you can eat" buffet style food. Very salty. The cheap food was extremely salty and obviously chuck full of fillers to stretch the meal. We ate cereal for breakfast and lunch most days because the food was so bad. Most all of our group suffered from water retention (swollen hands, feet and joints) after 2 days of eating it. We were assigned the late dining which was too late for our eating habits. We attempted to ask the Maitre'd to change but were told that he didn't have time to come talk to us. We were not given a time when it would be more convenient, just a very abrupt, he had no time for us. I agree with some of the other reviewers regarding the food. The maitre d wouldn't change our seating for dinner even though there were plenty of empty chairs from other unhappy diners who didn't show up during their assigned seating time.

Very nice. Roomy, clean, well arranged.

Not enough of them. We had very little activities and most of those involved an expense. Carnival is amazing at how they find ways to dig into your wallet. The lack of entertainment, the requirement that we be back on the boat by 5:00 p.m (latest) and usually 3:00 p.m. and 2 full days at sea made it a very boring trip. There were no night time stops, only day tours for a few hours. Our family felt trapped for 7 days. It will be a long time (if ever) that we will chose to spend our money on a cruise.

The catamaran at St. Thomas was an awful experience. Not at all the way they described it on the brochure. After we paid for the tour of the rum factory we found out that it was actually a free tour. We basically paid for a very expensinve bus ride.

Sorry we wasted the money on this trip. We had a large group and most were ready to get off the ship after the 3rd day.
