We had a great time. The staff was awesome, the shows were better than I expected and very enjoyable, the comedians were for the most part very funny, the band in the casino - Blood Power - put on a great show and our stateroom was decent sized with the bonus of an extended balcony.

Once we figured out the system, it was very satisfying. I would suggest hitting up the omelette line for breakfast, they are worth the wait. For lunch, the Mongolian stir fry was awesome. Along with the deli sandwich station which has one of the better pastrami sandwiches that I have had. Pre dinner we would hit up the sushi bar, which according to my girlfriend, was pretty good too. We hit up the cruise elegant dining a couple nights in the Golden Olympian dining room. The service was excellent and food was above par. We did go to Harry's, the ship's steakhouse one night and can highly recommend it. I had the New York Strip and it was fantastic. If you are feeling lazy, room service is also an option with a fair selection.

We ended up with an aft stateroom that included an extended balcony, which came in handy when the top deck lounge chairs we full. The stateroom was well appointed and maintained. The balcony was nice not only for laying out, but also during embarkation and debarkation as we could roll out of bed in the morning and watch as the ship came into port or at night as the ship was departing. The house keeping staff was very friendly and efficient and kept the stateroom spotless.

If you are bored on a cruise ship, it is your own fault. We hit up all the shows, some better than others. Ditto with the comedians. In the casino there is a stage where bands played every afternoon/night. Aside from the dumb name, Blood Power was a very good cover band. We even played bingo a few days. The gym/spa was better than expected and after the first day, wasn't overly crowded. One grip would be that deck chairs were a pain in the ... to get. Contrary to the stated policy of unattended chairs being policed up after 30 minutes, there were many that stayed that way all day. So if you want a good location, show up early. My other tips would be to bring a bottle of wine on board with you and if you drink beer, stick with Grolsch as it costs the same as domestic beer, but comes in a 16 oz bottle and is a much better lager.

Cozumel was our first port of call and we did our own thing. We rented scooters and cruised the southern side of the island. The windward side is very beautiful, has numerous blowholes and is not very crowded so it isn't hard to find a nice area on the beach to chill out and enjoy the scenery. Coconuts is a pretty cool bar/restaurant that is on the top of a bluff and offers some great views. Grand Cayman was next, again we did our own thing. We paid a couple bucks and caught a cab to 7 mile beach where we walked til we were out of the crowded areas on the beach and set up camp. We had an excellent time swimming and laying out. Prior to getting back on the ship we did hit up Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and had a blast. Our last port of call was Ocho Rios where we did go on the Zipline/Tubing excursion. The excursion was very organized as all you had to do was show up and listen. The Zipline was fun but too quick to really recommend. However, tubing down the White River was worth every penny, the Jamaican guides were very funny and personable, the scenery was awesome and the river was crystal clear. Good times.

We had a great time on Carnival Liberty and are already planning our next cruise incorporating the lessons learned from our maiden voyage. Aside from the minor inconvenience of the "saved" deck chairs the only other issue I had was the short amount of time the ship was in harbor at Ocho Rios. We only had enough time to go on our excursion and get a cup of coffee. Thanks Liberty staff for the great time!
