Though I was disappointed in this cruise we did have a great time. Some of the problems, like weather were no fault of Carnivals. We did not realize when we booked this cruise that it was in the middle of Spring Break. I had also heard that most Spring Breakers take shorter cruises and not 7 days. Our ship was packed with groups of College students. Impossible to use the Jacuzzi"s as they were always packed with the young party goers. We did not have the best weather.

Food was mediocre at best. Our waiter was Peri from India. He was amazing and so entertaining. He knew everyones name by the second night. One thing new that we did enjoy was the Taste Bar which has replaced the Sushi Bar. It was open 5 nights before dinner usually sampling a soup and treat. The first night was a tomato type soup with a BBQ beef crochet. Very tasty! I found this ship to rock more than normal. Many people were sea sick during the week. One grandson was sick the first night and the other was sick the last night. It is very obvious that Carnival has cut corners to save money.

Our next cruise in April will be on NCLs new Breakaway. I will definitely be paying attention to detail and most likely will choose a different cruiseline in the future until Carnival goes back to the way they used to be.

I found the food mediocre at best. Carnival has really gone down when it comes to food. No more midnight buffets. Lunch buffet closes ate 2:30 so if you come back from a day in port after this time you will be limited to burgers, pizza and room service. I ate twice in the buffet for breakfast and once for lunch and was not impressed. Choices are very limited than in the past. For the other 5 breakfasts I ate at the Blue Iguana which serves breakfast burritos. Though good they were always cold. I did enjoy their toppings bar.

Guys Burgers were not bad. First one was good but second was burnt all around the edges. I did love their fries with chipotle sauce. Probably one of the best things I had on the ship. Dinner in the Silver dining room was just OK. On the last night 3 of my family members ordered the Flat Iron Steak which is on the everyday list. They all said it did not taste right and smelled bad. They had ordered it during the week and enjoyed it. We brought it to our waiters attention and he offered to get them something else but they declined. The pizza style has changes. It is now a thin crust pizza. I loved the old pizza. We ate at the Diamonds Steakhouse one night. It was very good but not the best I have had onboard. The service was very good but almost intrusive as every 5 min they came buy to see how we were doing. A little over kill. But better too much than not enough. My daughter said the lobster was better in the dining room.

Our stateroom was the typical small room but it was clean. We never met our room steward but he always kept it tidy though he did not fill the ice bucket on 3 occasions and once I had to go to the Lido deck to get ice myself. Enjoyed the towel animals every night. We did not use the min bar though we did put our own soda in to keep cool. Does not really get cold. My daughter took on can of soda from her minibar which was about $2.25. A few days after returning she got a letter from Carnival saying she owed $18.96. (She had done a cash deposit) Her balance on the morning of debarkation showed she had a $4.00 credit. She requested that they send her a statement showing the new charge and it turned out to be a mini bar charge for $19.44 that were added after debarkation. Now she is fighting to have that removed. Funny, we stayed at a resort in Miami before our cruise. When I checked out they had added $18.00 mini bar charge to my bill which we had not used. Hmmm!

On board activities were lacking or boring. One thing that this ship and maybe all Carnival ships have done away with is the Calypso bands on the Lido deck. We were entertained only by a DJ. Part of my enjoyment has always been listening to the band and the steel drums while enjoying the scenery drinking a Blue Iguana. I guess this is another price cut. The entertainment was a BIG disappointment. Used to have entertainment in the showroom every night. Not this cruise. We only had shows maybe 4 or 5 nights and they were high school musical quality at best. many people got up and left during the shows. The Punchliner club was good the 4 nights it was open but seating is a premium. The casino was the norm. Not many winners. They have two computerized black jack tables that must be rigged in their favor. When the black jack dealer gets 5 black jacks in a row and you cannot win on 20 something is amuck.

We did not do any excursions this cruise so cannot comment here.

This was a family cruise to celebrate my 60th birthday and my daughter and son-in-laws 25th anniversary. 11 of us total. My youngest daughter decorated our cabin doors and passengers stopped by to sign the poster on my door. That was a nice touch. Passenger across the hall stopped me one day and wished me a Happy Birthday and said that they use the poster to find their room. I told them so do I. The weather was not the best. Both sea days were chilly as was Half Moon Cay plus raining and windy. Though the weather was not the best it could have been worse. Our last stop was Grand Turk where we all spent the day at Margaritaville and had a great time. The morning of debarkation my husband became sick as did my daughter and brother. We also met people at the elevator and on deck 3 who were also sick. I brought this to the attention of Customer relations not knowing if it was food poisoning or a virus. 2 more would become sick a few days later. After reading blogs on the internet I found out that they were temporarily not going to Grand Turks as there seemed to be a virus that was affecting passengers on several cruise ships.
