Ship: Miracle
Sailing Date: May 22nd, 2005
Itinerary: Western Caribbean
Once we arrived at Port
Tampa, boarding the ship was very quick and easy. We went to Lido for some
lunch and then to our cabin 5247. Our cabin was very spacious with plenty
of drawer and closet space and our room stewards, Curly and Joseph, were
great and worked very hard all week to make us feel at home. The bathroom
was a little small, but as long as 2 people didn't try to get in there at
the same time, it was fine.
The decor on the ship was for the most part tackey and not to my liking at
all. The Miracle isn't nearly as pretty as the Glory and is not as easy to
get around in either.
We were scheduled for early seating, but because we wanted to eat with
some friends we had met through one of the boards, we moved our dinner to
the late seating. BIG MISTAKE. While we did enjoy being with the friends,
our wait staff was so slow that it was nearly 11:00p.m. before we left the
dining room each night. One evening, we had not received our entree when
others around us were getting their dessert. And, we had arrived in the
dining room before they did. On a couple of occasions, we had dinner on
Lido just so we wouldn't be so late.
For the most part, the food left something to be desired and we were
extremely disappointed. We felt that way about our first cruise too, but
just thought it might be unique to that ship. We now think it is probably
the quality of Carnival food in general.
With the exception of the band that played nightly in Frankey and
Johnnies, the entertainment was HORRIBLE. The vegas style shows were more
of the caliber of a high school dance class and my children are funnier
than the comedians were. Also, the scheduling was just awful and with the
exception of the main show, we missed a lot because of the late dinner
seating. This was not the case when we sailed on the Glory in June 2004.
For the size of the ship, there were too many picture backgrounds set up
and therefore getting around the ship during the evening hours was quite a
challenge.
Costa Maya and Cozumel were very nice ports. Grand Cayman was ok but
expensive and Belize was AWFUL. We felt very unsafe there and returned to
the ship very quickly.
Debarkation was horrendous. Although it started shortly after 8:00 a.m.,
we weren't called until almost 11:00.
Although there were many things about this cruise we didn't like, we still
had fun and met some wonderful people. We will not sail on the Miracle
again and will probably even look at another cruise line the next time.
