Itinerary: Carribean

We shipped out of New York and visited the ports of San Juan, St. Thomas and Turks. We got on the ship very quickly, luggage arrived in a timely fashion. That's just about the only good things I can say about our time on the ship. The people that worked there were very evasive and looked like they didn't want to bother with anyone. Gave the impression that they hated their job or were coming to the end of their 6 months so they didn't really care.

They constantly closed off sections of the upper deck for hours at a time without warning to clean during Sea Days which made you have to go down a level or two in order to get around it. On the last night of the Cruise, they closed off all of the Upper deck pools. After cleaning, most of the area's still looked dirty and grimy.

Buffet food was very bland and sub-par, ex: Most deserts were dry even though they were just put out, anything that was fried was super greasy, you could actually squeeze the oil out of the tater tots, ex: Bacon, hash browns. Not many choices for toddlers.

All food that we were served came to us in about 5 minutes after seating. The portions were smaller than past cruises and the food was luke warm. Not one meal was hot. Seemed that they had everything made before hand and had been sitting on hot plates. Also, if you weren't usually tipping the waiting staff you were not being served the same way.

The rooms looked dirty, sheets were stained. The beds were well worn in (sagging in the middle). We were missing the following when first entering the room, door stop (Very important when transporting a toddler in a stroller), beach towels, an ice bucket (but what was funny was they had 2 wine glasses there).

Room stewards were horrible, when we called to notify of the missing articles, we got "It is there, I put it on your couch." every time we asked. I ended up going down to the customer service center and complaining.

Good for adults, but nothing for toddlers.

We will never go on another Carnival cruise again after this experience. You spend over $1000 a person to relax, not be aggravated by the simple things that can be fixed. I have written a letter to Carnival about our experience so that they might look into it.
