There were very few "positives" about this cruise. The Carnival Pride is clean, but the decor of the ship is GAWDY. I understand that it is supposed to have a renaissance theme, but it was awful. Dark and unappealing. I did not hear anyone say that they though the decor was attractive.

The taxi driver in one of our ports referred to Carnival as the Walmart of cruising. We are not snobs, but he was right. I think some people felt that Formal night meant wearing their best tee shirts and jeans.

This cruise was booked at the last minute, so I really did not do my homework ahead of time. As they say, live and learn. This was our second, and last, cruise on Carnival.

The food was acceptable, but nothing great. The only part of the dinner experience that we looked forward to was the Warm Chocolate Melting Cake. It was worth eating each night. On our first night's dinner, we had a wonderful server named Rosanna. She learned everyone's name and really made us feel welcomed. If anything were needed, she was right on top of it. The next few evenings we were placed in different sections, and the staff there had no personality and the level of the service was poor. My wife received her appetizer a good five minutes before mine arrived. When the entree arrived, they asked if we would like sour cream on the baked potato, but then went on to serve four or five other tables before coming back with the sour cream. We made sure that we requested to be seated in Rosanna's section from then on and it was great.

We never met our cabin steward. The room was clean and taken care of properly, but the service that we had received on other cruise lines was missing on Carnival.

Very limited choices. A few poorly run trivia contests, and bingo. Beyond that, not much.

As I said earlier, this was our second, and last, cruise on Carnival Cruise Lines.
