WE have sailed with Norwegian and Pricess and found our experience with Carnival better than expected. We had been told that Carnival ships were party ships (booze booze booze) but found a very enjoyable family atmosphere. Getting around the Splendor was a little quirky the first day but once you learn the layout it's ok. People who work in the ship are great, after the first day the guys who were responsible for our cabin greeted us by name and were very attentive, if we asked for something it happened almost immediately. They also asked us each morning if we were leaveing the ship so they had a good idea of when to have our room ready. We're going on another Carnival cruise, on the Splendor in April 2011 and I suspect we'll do a lot if business with Carnival in the future.

The food was good, we enjoyed the different foods on the Lido deck and really enjoyed the custom omelets for breakfast. We booked late so got assigned the 8:30 dinner time, which for us was late because this was a cruise where we stayed mostly on the ship and just relaxed and read good books. Food on this cruise was so much better than our experience with Norwegian (we won't cruise with them again). Love the burgers, fries, and onion rings in the afternoon. We thought the was soft drinks were handled was good, you buy a daily all you can drink pass instead of a pass for the whole cruise like other cruise lines, why pay for soft drinks when you'll be off the ship for most of the day?

When we boarded and discovered we were on the first floor I was a bit hesitant but warmed up when we got in our nice sized room and had a nap on the yummy bed. Best cruise bed ever. Like I mentioned, the staff was very attentive and our room was spotless when we moved in, in fact the while ship was spotless every day every where you went.

On board activities were what you expect on a cruise, silly and loud games during the days when you're at sea. However, Splendor has an adults only and quiet area that was great. If the games got too loud we just moved to the serenity area and vegged out. Enoyed the movies that were shown a couple nights on the big screen, any movie is great when you're sailing and the nights are warm. We don't gamble or drink alcohol so nothing to report on the casino and bars, even though, people everywhere on the boat seemed to be having a great time.

Since we've cruised before and taken advantage of lots of excursions we didn't so much on this trip. We usually scuba but passed this time. This cruise was all about doing nothing and having a good time doing it. The Splendor suited us just fine. I'm sure we'll do more on our Splendor cruise in April. If you want to have a great day sign up for the zip line adventure in PV, we did this on a previous cruise and had a great day, what fun zipping through the trees and it was an all day activity.

All in all we had a great trip and have already scheduled our next Carnival Splendor cruise. Have a great time, we did.
