Itinerary: eastern carribean

Long story short, I have sailed three times on carnival, twice on Royal Caribbean and once on the Norwegian dawn. In a nutshell, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Although I did have a nice time, I would NOT sail this ship again. The ship was POORLY decorated (not enough to ruin a vacation), the pools were PACKED (yes I expected this when there are THREE THOUSAND PEOPLE on board, but my idea of swimming is not in a tuna can with 100 other people, I just stayed in the casino), the shuffling off the boat could have been organized better, felt like cattle being herded. Room I had WAS LOUD, Kids running through hallways screaming could hear EVERYTHING, did NOT GET REST on this vacation.

Royal Carribean KICKS A-- COMPARED to Carnival. Carnival is cutting back in my opinion. I will definitely save longer to be able to afford Royal Caribbean next time. A vacation is what you make of it, it is still a vacation and I still did not have to cook or clean or pick up after four kids for one whole week so I was still happy. The ports were beautiful.

Food in the main dining room was EXCELLENT (never had a bad meal and I LIVE for the chocolate melting cake had it EVERY SINGLE NIGHT), However food in the Lido Buffet was NOT GOOD, breakfast was cold, lunch food was poor; choices were not good and quality of food no good. The sea day brunch was good, but they need to change up the menu a little bit. It was the same stuff everyday.

Staterooms on carnival are always nice size (bigger than RCCL & NCL), however I was in room 2420 and it was LOUD, clanking of pipes, I believe I was located directly below the kitchen and I heard pots and pans clanging and stuff rolling on the ceiling, there were kids running like animals through the hallways screaming (Yes I have FOUR kids so I know how kids can be, but this was out of control). Room Steward was just ok, he was only friendly because I went out of my way to talk to him and ask him questions about his family, I just don't feel like the staff went above and beyond at all, they were no where near as friendly on this ship as they are on RCCL. They did the bare minimum in the room.

Onboard activities were good, there was always something to do which Is nice. The Shows were TERRIBLE, the best show was the comedian who was on America's Got Talent. The show VROOM that everyone raved about was NOT GOOD AT ALL. Carnival can do better. Comedians were all good. Camp carnival was excellent, my daughter loved it.

Do not miss Margaritaville in GRAND TURK, it was INCREDIBLE. Nassau was ok, we did the Balmoral island with dolphin excursion and the Balmoral island was GORGEOUS, but not worth the 129 p/p. Half Moon Cay was also gorgeous.

All in all, the trip is what you make of it. The ship was NOT pretty at all, it was gaudy and tacky and like nothing I have ever seen, but like I said, it was not enough to ruin a vacation. Food, we LOVED THE DELI on aft deck 9 and ate there everyday and by-passed the Lido buffet. Disappointed they did away with the midnight chocolate buffet (that was one of my favorites on Carnival), I will 100% travel with Royal Caribbean next time, I don't care how much more it costs, you most definitely get what you pay for. Lounges on RCCL were nicer, cleaner, staff was friendlier, our dining table waiter (Siswanto aka six one two) was fabulous, very attentive to our needs and hustled every night for us I can't complain about the dining room staff.
