Ship: Carnival Splendor

Itinerary: NYC-Boston-Portland-Halifax Saint Johns

First time with carnival, had used RCCL and NCL is the past. Easiest embarkation ever, although Pier 90 in NYC is a zoo. We were on a bus would not want to drive/park there. The muster drill was ridiculous, took for ever standing there in silence waiting for them to start their speech. Entertainment not on par with RCCl or NCL. Main dining room equal to other cruise lines, they did have lobster tails one night, very small 3 bites, but I received 4, so can't complain. They did have escargo one night. Last NCL cruise on the star they did not have either.

Main dining room was average for a cruise ship. Buffets were crowded, just OK, nothing too exciting The rotisserie upstairs in the lido buffet was exactly the same all week. Try the Mongolian Wok. just pick the veggies they add your choice of protein and sauce, and cook in front of you. Nice touch. The pizza pirate makes small thin crust pizzas, really enjoyed this. .

We had a balcony room on the Lido deck, no complaints here. Same as any cruise ship, steward was very quiet but room was always kept clean. No noise complaints, average age of cruisers was pretty old, I an 57 and was often the young guy as I looked around.

Activities about the same as other cruises. Entertainment was just fair, comedians OK

We took some tours in both Canadian ports, very informative, but too expensive.

This was our first Carnival cruise, we may or may not use them again. I think all cruise lines are very similar. We will continue to cruise after reviewing itineraries, dates, availability and prices.
