The Carnival Triumph is decorated like a bad disco tech. The staff is friendly, but at times too many announcements and the announcements were difficult to hear depending on if you were in a noisey area or had your stateroom door closed.

The food in dining room was fabulous. The pizza was good, just not fantastic, the buffet was good, though eggs were the powdered kind, and the cheese in the ommlette tasted like processed cheese. The decor in the Lido Lounge is tacky.

The room was great with lots of storage space and seemed soundprrof on sides as we did not hear neighbors, but hallway traffic was loud (especially the ones drinking late at night or kids running in hall) and ceiling had a snap crackle sound to it constantly. We paid for a balcony room, and loved that though we were told not to use it two mornings as cleaning and painting was done (could they not have done that before we left?).

The weather was poor. All of the hot tubs were shut down for the whole cruise and only a few pools open some of the time.

We did our own walking around town and enjoyed being able to determine our own schedule. We talked with a few others who paid for exursions and were disappointed in what they saw or did.

We did this trip for our 30th anniversary, and the main thing we wanted was quiet. We were able to relax some, and loved going to the dining room every night for a fabulous meal. I would not reccommend this ship to anyone else though. Do your research.
