Itinerary: Western Caribean

My husband, three teenage children and I sailed on Carnival Triumph. The food was excellent; cabin steward and dinner servers were attentive and pleasant. There are, however, many opportunities for Carnival to improve their service. To be brief I will list those things that I found very disappointing regarding our cruise experience: 1)There is a terrible odor in the hallways and some common areas. I complained to Guest Services about the odor and they acted like they were not aware. This made me suspicious that the odor is an ongoing problem that has not been corrected/addressed. 2)There was an odor that came out of our cabin sink. 3)Our shower drain backed up and black stuff came out. I notified our cabin steward and he quickly called the plumber and the steward cleaned everything. 4) There is very limited to non-existent planned activities for the teenagers during the day. My kids kept going to the teen club and it would be locked during the day. At night they would have dancing for the older teens. Younger teens would gather in groups and roam the ship at night. 5). Internet charges are very high .75 to .55 per minuteĀ¦ Really?! 6)I have an error on my bill for internet charges that I did not charge. I tried to clear this up before leaving the ship. The internet cafe promised to investigate and call me back while on ship, but never contacted me. Instead 4 days after the cruise, I get an email with more charges for internet! 7)I called Carnival about my concerns and they promised to have someone contact me. I have not received a call or a customer satisfaction survey request. Carnival has many areas in which they can improve. I am disappointed and wish that I had chosen another cruise line. Thanks.

The food was great and exceeded my expectations

Stateroom was great and was larger than I expected. We had a balcony room.

Onboard activities for adults was adequate, but for my teenagers was lacking. There are clubs for the teens, but they are closed during the day (they are supposed to be open).

I would not use Carnival again due to the odor on board ship and the Triumph needs more attention to detail..clean carpets and cabin hallways.
