Overall our party of 11 had a blast. We were fairly laid back about what we would do from day to day. We had ages 17 to 60. We enjoyed our meals, most especially in the dining room. We managed to keep ourselves busy most of the time. Loved our balconies. I don't think I would. Rise without one again. The nighttime shows were disappointing. The dancers and singers were good. The show concepts, not so much. The comedians were extremely foul mouthed. No problem finding deck chairs, especially on the upper decks. It was cooler up there with the wind anyway for July heat. Never swam...pools are so small and were packed with kids. I really didn't miss swimming. Service was wonderful on the ship in our room and in the dining room. My son had a bubbles card and they never hesitated to fill up the cup. The mixed drinks are pricey, but taste very good. We all loved the tastes of food at the World Bar on 3 of the nights. Wished it would have been every night. I gambled a little, but not big on that. Enjoyed 2 different bingo games and the couples quiz shows.

Our food was very good. I cruised on the Ectasy 6 years ago and the food was awesome then. I was still good this trip. I had lobster, lasagna, trout almondine, crab cakes, chateubriand and it was all good. The sourdough bread was excellent. I enjoyed eggs Benedict at breakfast. One morning it was tasty. Another it had been put under a broiler and was dried out. The grits were good every morning I had them. Bacon was fairly good, but never cooked well enough. I'm sure they bake it and it's hard to get it crisp that way. Desserts were good also.

Our waitstaff was awesome. So attentive, friendly and called us all by name every time they saw us.

Our stateroom, on the Verandah deck had a port side balcony. Our room was in the aft section. For the Lido Deck buffet or coffee, we just had to walk up one flight of stairs and we were there. It was a great location. We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony. The bathroom was bigger and better than I remembered the Ecstasy bathroom being. It was clean and well stocked with towels. There was plenty of closets, drawers and storage space for out clothes and other items. It was my 20 year old son and I, so I had the beds separated into 2 twins. It was kept clean the entire cruise.

We had a great time at the bingo games. One in our party won $500 on a scratch off. My sister won $100 in a bingo game. We played twice.

We went to the Punchliner comedy show the first night. Foul language was used constantly. The lady was funny, but the male comedian was awful and gross as far as we all were concerned.

We went to the big night show about around the world. Our guys all fell asleep. I would have liked too. It was awful and boring. We went to "the Big Easy" show the last night before dinner. We love New Orleans and knew we would enjoy a musical show about NOLA. There was very little in it to do with NOLA. I have been there a lot ad have yet to see dancing gargoyles. If they would have done more NOLA Jazz and songs about NOLA, it would have been good. The dancers and costuming were good as we're the 2 female singers. It's a shame whomever develops the shows doesn't know what they are doing. They need to be fired! There was an offensive "religious" part and the girl dancers were flashing their crotches... what I've ever seen in a Southern church service.

The magic show was good. It was stretched out with the dancers. I enjoyed it.

If you like to gamble, the casino was good. My son and the other guys went to sports trivia one day. My son said the info wasn't accurate. He is a sports trivia expert. He wouldn't go back again.

We caught a couple of couples quiz shows. They were hilarious.

Stay away from an excursion in Progreso to a "five star hotel". Mexican five star = 2 US stars...maybe. It was to Hotel Reef Yucatan. The food was bad and the mixed drinks were awful and watered down. The pools there were nice as was the facilities. You are better off staying at Corona Beach for free. We spent $45 and a lot of time on buses or waiting for buses.

In Cozumel we caught a taxi to Ocean Beach Club. It was all inclusive for $50 for foods and drinks. The food was wonderful, the drinks were great too. They were generous with food and drink. The waiters were super attentive. They waited on kids and adults alike. They even asked if we wanted our kids cut off from drinks. The beach and facilities there were nice and they had a fairly good pool. The kids spent most of their time in the pool. Some of our party went snorkeling out on a couple of reefs for $30. Some rented jet skis and parasailed. They had free kayaks. We were taken for free on a catamaran ride. We tipped the guy $5 each. We really enjoyed the catamaran ride. Our experience there was so good. We tipped the waitstaff well before we left. They definitely aimed to please. It was right next to Carlos N Charlies and Paradise Beach. It was fairly close to Mr. Sanchos Beach Club, which was where we were headed when we got to the cabs in port. We made a great choice.

It was fun and relaxing. All our kids want to go back to Cozumel. We could all live with never seeing Progreso again. Carnival would be smart to spend 2 days in Cozumel so the cruisers could have more time in a pretty port with plenty to keep them busy. I'm looking forward to going on the Magic in about a year.
