Ship: Triumph
Sailing Date: April 30th, 2005
Itinerary: Western Caribbean

We booked airfare through Carnival and had bad weather the Saturday of the cruise and almost missed the boat. I called the emergency number for Carnival and was very frustrated that the only information they could give me was that we would have to run once we got there and hope there were enough other people calling in that the ship would be held. Once we actually arrived in Miami I was pleased that someone met us at the gate and escorted us to baggage claim and then to a bus (there were a lot of others in this same situation.)

I thought the food in the dining room was very good, and the service was excellent. The food on the Lido deck buffets was just OK, though there was a different ethnic food offered everyday on the buffet which I though was very good. One thing you should know is that the day in port in Cozumel the dining room is open seating, your assigned table is not available, which is something that I've never seen before.

The cabin was spacious and we loved having our own balcony, though there were smokers in the room right next to us which made it unpleasant to sit outside if they were also outside. I was not pleased one bit with the cabin steward, who did not even clean our room or bring any towels on the last night of the cruise.

We booked excursions over the Internet prior to the cruise, which I would recommend, there was not much information about the excursions once we got on the boat. I would caution you -- two of the excursion that we chose specifically because they were not early were changed the night before to 8AM, the only notification being a note slipped under our door the night before each one, after the excursion desk was closed and it was too late to do anything about it.

The magic show was very good. If you have children with you I wouldn't suggest the comedian, even during the "family show" he did a ten minute spot about how you should beat your children.

I did not find the ship crowded, we found plenty of space both on deck and in the bars, we enjoyed the jazz musicians.
