We just returned from a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise on Carnival Valor.

We had a great time and would recommend it to others. The staff on the Valor were, for the most part, very pleasant and helpful. However, they should have more housekeeping staff whose native language is English. We would advise to travel with your own air freshener, as housekeeping is ill equipped to deal with cleaning the carpet properly in the event that anyone is ill!! We have two children, 8 & 10 years old, but I would not recommend the Kids Camp. The Activities, in particular for the 8 year old, were very babyish. He did not enjoy it and did not return.

The entertainment was very good and there were many different activities. We enjoyed the comedy club most nights, & and the singer in the Ivanhoe Theater (Marcus Anthony) was excellent.

Food was not fantastic, but it was OK. Not cooking or cleaning however, was great.. Our waiter, Sonada, was very pleasant and efficient. The nightly performances by the waiters were also very entertaining.

Do NOT book shore excursions thru the ship. Book through the internet, we used a site "ISLAND MARKETING LTD," it was perfect and half the cost of the Cruise Line.

Grand Cayman - Book the Stingray City visit! It is fantastic and great value. The water is beautiful, clear and blue. People who went on the Dolphin Encounter were not impressed, said it was very commercial (Take a picture and move on).

Isla Roatan - You must zip-line! The island was beautiful and our driver, Alvin, gave us a tour of the island and we spent two hours at West Bay, the islands most beautiful beach.

Belize - The excursion to do is the Cave Tubing! However, getting off the ship is very disorganized, so go early and expect to wait, due to this delay we arrived for our excursion an hour and a half late.. Read the back of the Fun Times to get the instructions..

All three of these excursions were booked through Island Marketing and were all well organized.

Cozumel - We did not book anything here, just got into a taxi and asked him to take us to a beach. We were taken to Paradise Beach Resort and had a sumptuous Mexican lunch. The facilities and service was excellent.
