This is more of a review of Carnival as a whole then the ship, and of how
Carnival failed to correct a mistake they made. My wife, myself and my two boys
ages 2 and 5, took a Western Caribbean cruise on 1/22/06 to 1/29/06, about an 3
hours after our ship left Miami, we were informed that Carnival had put ALL of
our luggage on the wrong ship, and we wouldn't get it back until we arrived back
in Miami. So imagne being on the ship for a week with just the clothes you wore
onto the ship-no clothes, no underwear, to personal items, my wife had no
makeup, no bathing suits, no video cameras-nothing. Carnival offered us a ship
credit of a total of $750.00. We went to the gift shops, and basically found one
pair of shorts for the boys, and a couple of t-shirts for everyone, suntan
lotion, 2 hats, and a travel bag (since we had nothing to carry things in) this
cost us $300.00. Our 1st day was at sea, day 2 took us to Grand Cayman which was
the one port we really wanted to visit. After and hour of pleading and telling
them there was nothing on the ship for us to buy, they did extend us another
$250.00. On Grand Cayman it honestly took us 4 hours to find 1 store that had
anything other than t-shirts ect. In this one store we did find, underwear
socks, and 1 outfit each, a bathing suit for myself, and a pair of shoes for my
wife and myself-this cost us $800.00-but it was all we could find for the week.
And now we had wasted the port of Grand Cayman. So we went back to the ship with
our 1 outfit each. We couldn't attend the dinners, we didn't have the proper
attire, my kids couldn't swim-no suits, and we couldn't find arm floaters for
them anywhere. I have talked to several of Carnivals customer service reps, and
have asked them how they could make this right, and they said we should be happy
for what they gave us, and that should make us happy, no other compensation
would be given. By the way our luggage just arrived at our home one and a half
week after our return. It was actually much worse then this message!
makes it sound. If you do chose Carnival, I hope nothing goes wrong because if
it does-they have already got your money,and you'll be on your own, I feel like
I just lost $6,000.00
