Carnival Victory Cruise Review
Western Caribbean
Lori B.
My husband and I just got back
from our 2nd Cruise with Carnival. We had a wonderful time. We met a couple
traveling from our home state and instantly became friends. It was so much fun
to have another couple along with us to enjoy our trip.
ARRIVAL: We were a little worried about our choice of ships after reading some
of the reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. We flew into Miami and reach
the port early. We were able to board the ship after being assigned our sail and
sign cards. Our room was not ready but we were able to have lunch on the Lido
deck. We had carried on our swim suits, so we quickly changed and stayed by the
pool until our room was ready. We had an ocean view room on the Main Deck. It
was very spacious. We haven’t ever had a balcony room – so, I can’t compare the
two.
DINNER: Our only disappointment was that we had requested the late seating for
dinner and instead received the 5:45 seating in the Pacific Dining Room. This
was a bit of a let down. On our last ship our waiters danced and sang and
entertained throughout dinner. At this seating we simply received a meal. Our
waiters were friendly but we left feeling almost cheated and a little rushed.
The food was fine. I believe breakfast was probably our favorite meal of the
day. We loved the convenience of being able to grab some pizza, hamburgers, or
ice cream whenever we wanted.
ENTERTAINMENT: The entertainment was great. We saw Las Vegas type shows,
comedians, and a magician.
EXCURSIONS: I recommend booking your excursions through Carnival. They are
pricier than the excursions offered in port but are much more organized, safer
and are controlled/monitored by Carnival. We visited the Chacchobean Mayan Ruins
in Costa Maya. We were glad that we picked the shorter of the two Mayan Ruins
tours. We heard some discouraging stories from the other group – concerning
length and “lunch”. In the Grand Cayman’s we took the tour to Hell, Turtle Farm
and Stingray Sandbar. This was one of the highlights of our vacation. We loved
this tour! We had previous vacationed to Ocho Rios (Sandals Resort). So, we
opted to go on our own and shop. Jamaican’s are pushy . . . but it just goes
with the territory. On our last vacation to Jamaica we climbed Dunn’s River
Falls. It is a must see!
We truly enjoyed our cruise on the Victory. We will cruise again but I think
next time we are going to Alaska. Our waiter (Ely) suggested it. The only major
difficulty that we had through out our entire vacation was dealing with American
Airlines. On our next vacation we will be flying with someone else. We suffered
long delays, lost luggage and rude staff.
I say book your cruise!
