For the past two years we have introduced friends of ours to cruising. We had sailed last year on the Carnival Holiday and were impressed by the staff, activities, and dining. This year we were joined by last years new comers as well as another couple that had not sailed before. For weeks we told them of how well our first Carnival cruise went on the Holiday, but this year we would be going on the newer and larger Elation to the same destinations of Cozumel and Calica in hopes of being even more impressed. What a disappointment.

Unimpressed. The same food was not the same caliber as what we had had last year. We looked so forward to the food in the dining room such as the lobster tail and chocolate melting pots, as well as others. Unfortunately, we were not satisfied. Our waiter seemed unorganized in his missions even though he said he had done this for years. It appeared he only had three tables of responsibility yet the service was slow causing us to have to hurry through our food in order to make room for the later seating.
The buffet food was just that, buffet. What we did miss was a place to snack later at night, besides the pizza. No, we are not the obese people that have been mentioned in other reviews, but we do like to eat when we want too.
The sushi bar was great but should open earlier.

The shower was great! Plenty of room and a soap (dispenser) with a great fragrance. Good A/C too. The room was kept clean and the stewards were always friendly. The rooms were nice and quiet until the children ran down the hallways, many times while with their inconsiderate parents.

The shows lacked luster. We observed several great shows on the Holiday but were not at all impressed with the shows on the Elation. The hypnotist was probably the best. Apparently there were many activities for the children and teenagers such as "Lets run down the hall and see who we can disturb", or "Lets chase each other around the people that are eating", and my favorite "lets play drums on the Inspiration's dining room table with spoons....as my parents watch and say "How cute!" There was very limited parent or adult supervision on this ship. We saw several children under ten years old (several much younger) just wander about the ship by themselves.

A disappointment. Our next cruise will most likely be on another companies ship.
