Elation Cruise Review

I booked my cruise through vacationstogo.com and they were great. I only wish it wouldn’t have been Carnival. You will see why, as you read my review.

Embarkation:

We went to get in line with our luggage in hand and were told by a blonde woman standing at the door, in uniform, that we must check-in our luggage. We proceeded to do that and I later found out if your luggage is a certain size you can carry it on. She did not offer us this option. Well, they ended up losing my luggage. I had NO luggage for the entire cruise. 4 days with no clothes, underwear, bathing suit, Nothing! The info desk was very rude and not helpful at all. I felt they were dishonest with me and would say anything to get me to leave the desk. I spent a majority of my trip at the front desk dealing with the office. They gave me the run around pretty much the whole time.

My luggage was found once the cruise was finished and we got back to the port. Everyone had cleared the ship and they said it was found on an elevator. I just feel that if they were searching as hard as they told me they were that it would have been found. The only compensation they gave me was 2 t-shirts and a $50 credit on my sail and sign while on the ship. I had to beg them to do my laundry the last night so I’d have something clean to travel home in. They basically said they had done enough for me and that the supervisor would not ok them to give me any more money. It was only $4 to do laundry but I didn’t feel I should have to pay for it.

One woman at the info desk laughed at me while I stood there in tears explaining my situation. I will NEVER cruise Carnival again. I cant believe how horrible my first cruise was. I saved for this vacation and instead of relaxing and enjoying it, I was stressed the entire time and worried that I’d never see my bag again. What I really needed was assurance that if it was not found that compensation would be given and that they would make things right. I was never told that. I’m still in a battle with them to get my money back from the cruise. With all the money they do make I don’t think its too much to ask to get my money back for the cruise. Please take my advice and don’t cruise with Carnival.

The
I was not impressed with the ship. Dining areas were hard to find and when you ask for directions, they sent you all the way across the ship just to find out the place you were looking for was on the opposite side. I constantly felt the ship moving. Especially at night.

Cabin:

The cabin was small but that is to be expected. The steward we had was extremely nice. He was the only nice employee on the ship. He kept our room neat. The room did stink however. I recommend getting a window room. Our room was like a dungeon.

Food:

Yuck, yuck, yuck is all I have to say. Don’t go on a Carnival cruise expecting good food. You WILL be disappointed.

Service:

Dining service was pretty good. We had a friendly waiter and assistant.

Entertainment:

We watched 2 shows while on board. The hypnotist show was pretty good. The rated R show was not as funny as the other though. The dancing show was pretty bad. They sang a lot of songs no one had ever heard of.

Ports:

Freeport was awful. Very rundown and dirty. You had to drive 30 minutes just to get to a beach. Not much shopping. The only things they had for you to buy were towels and straw bags.

Nassau was better. Atlantis was beautiful but the tour we were given was not very good. The tour guide pointed out every fish in the tank but did not take us inside the hotel. Only in the casino. Straw market was very aggressive. But you can bargain with them, so that was nice. They’ll pretty much take what you’ll give them.

Debarkation:

I was told by the chief purser I would be first off the ship to look through all the luggage and of course that didn’t happen. Goes back to honesty. They were not straightforward with me and would never tell me the next step.

Summary:

Don’t book a cruise with Carnival. Don’t waste your money. There are too many other cruise lines out there for you to book with Carnival. I had a miserable time.
