This was my 5th Carnival cruise and I had great expectations since this would have been the first time I would be traveling with my 4yr old daughter and I wanted to Experience Camp Carnival. In addition I had read this ship had recently undergone a renovation. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Camp Carnival was verfy difficult to find as it was located behind a bar. The renovations were not what I was expecting, as I was looking forward to the slide. The slide was located on the aft part of the ship where it felt as if the wind was the highest. This greatly discouraged me from even trying it. Furthermore there was ONLY one pool and it was not heated which caused everyone to flock to the heated jacuzzis. So in each of two small jacuzzis there were 8 to 14 people at most times who were using it as a pool. I refused to believe there was only one pool to I asked a staff memeber who confirmed it was the only pool. The food was ok. I would rate it a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. It was very abundant, but not great tasting. Stateroom was small, but clean. There was evidence of an attempted renovation on the plastic covered wood by the window. We only saw the room steward once. Onboard activities were varied and adequate. We were not impressed with Progresso. It was not pretty at all. You have to board a bus for the 15 min ride into town where the bargins could be fould. In Cozumel I would recommend you get a taxi to take you to the beach. The cost is $26 round trip and some drivers will wait for you. The overall trip was just OK. The ship was not nearly up to my expectations.
