Carnival's Elation Cruise Review

Autumn Fagan

Age: 22
Occupation: Advertising Agent
Number of Cruises: 1
Cruise Line: Carnival
Ship: Elation
Sailing Date: May 9th, 2004
Itinerary: Western Caribbean

The morning of embarkation is a frenzy if you arrive to early, like we did, because the past cruisers are just getting off the ship and traffic is terrible. So wait till about one p.m. before getting to the terminal, it will save you a lot of headache. And all we got to do was set in the terminal till they let us board at 12:30.

Once you get on board, head to Tiffany’s for lunch, make sure you try the corned beef at the deli! It is awesome. My husband and I were first time cruisers, and it was the trip of a lifetime. We will be cruising with Carnival yearly now.

Dinner in the main dinning rooms is fantastic; we ate there every night but one, its fine dining at its best. I am a steak lover, so ate different kinds of steak all six nights. He is a little more adventurous than I am; he tried a lot of new things. I was impressed with the nibbles I took. Don’t miss Friday night, the special desert is baked Alaska! The food is so good everywhere on the ship! Except for mabey the Thursday night buffet of Mexican food, I was not to crazy about that. Get main sitting for dinner; the service is really good because they have to be ready for late sitting after main.

The service was unbelievable on every part of the ship! The crew is there to serve you 24 hours a day and they seem very happy to do it. We talked to our waiter quite a bit and he told us he works 14 hours a day 7 days a week, for 8 months. That is how his contract works. The crew is great. The nightly towel pets we really cute as well.

Carnival really does keep the fun going the whole cruise. There are so many fun activities to choose from, for all different age groups. We loved the shows every night. The comics and dancers were very entertaining! If you are into trivia, go to the game shows as well. We had a blast, I even won a “ship on a stick” trophy for winning one of the game shows.

The ports of call were good. I really loved Progresso, great shopping, great beach, and fun beachfront bars. The best thing about Progresso was every thing was really close together and the city is really easy to navigate. They will have maps available on the ship for each port. In Cozumel we took a Catamaran Boat to snorkel, it was one of carnivals shore excursions. It was so much fun. You have got to go snorkeling in Cozumel. So many beautiful fish. Have on good walking shoes when you go in to tour the city.

Belize was my least favorite of the three. I am not really into cave tubing or anything like that. So we took a city tour from a local. It was pretty fun. Locals are waiting for you as soon as you get off the tender boats in Belize; they want to sell you tours. They are companies so don’t worry, and their prices are less than half price of Carnivals.

We had a wonderful time, and
