Sailing Date: March 26th, 2005
Itinerary: Bahamas

I recently returned from a 3 day cruise aboard the Fantasy. I was traveling with a party of 7 which included 4 kids. This was the kids 1st cruise, that's why we chose something short n sweet. I would have to say the cruise was OK - and just OK. Nothing spectacular. There was one major problem on a cruise which kind of ruined the 1st of only 3 nights - a power outage. Not only did the ship lose power, the engines lost power as well. So there we were floating in the dark for what seemed like forever. The outage occurred around dinner time (1st seating) which was chaotic at first b/c it was very dark in the hall ways. I was happy I had booked a suite w/a balcony so we were able to enjoy the last few moments of daylight. When the power and engines were restored, it threw off the entire nights schedule. The captain called for open seating for dinner which resulted in us having to wait an hour in a long line for dinner which was scheduled for 8p- not very pleasant with 4 hungry kids. When we were finally seated for dinner, the food was cold and the service was rushed. Carnival apologized for the inconvenience, but I think they could have done more considering 1 night of a 3 night cruise was ruined. Aside from that, everything else was ok. The food was unimpressive, the midnight buffet was sad. The pools were small and one was closed for a day. Another thing I want to add, the ship is very hard to navigate if you have a wheelchair or stroller. If I do another Carnival cruise, it will have to be on one of the newer ships.
