Itinerary: Bahamas
On April 28, my husband and I left our two children safely in the hands of my
mother and went to the embarkation desk. Imagine our happiness and surprise when
we were told we had been upgraded! We are not sure why this happened but sure
appreciated it. The embarkation process was smooth and quick -- no problems at
all.
We were moved up two whole decks. The room was spacious, the bed was so
comfortable, and we had a nice big window! (our cabin was E170)
We were able to get our luggage (even with having our rooms moved) before dinner
so we could change our clothes. We didn't dress "fancy" for the first night, but
just cleaned up for dinner. We were happy to have very nice, interesting dinner
mates throughout the cruise.
We attended two different Vegas-type shows -- they were entertaining, but not
the same calibar as Broadway. Plus, I think by the time the shows begin, a lot
of cruisers are tired from the day in the sun and they just don't seem as
enthusiastic as they should be for the performers.
We went to a bingo game, spent time in the casino, enjoyed the piano bar and
sing-alongs, and mostly just relaxed in deck chairs by the pool and/or watching
the sea. It was amazing...
The Carnival staff were all extremely attentive and friendly. We never had to go
looking for somebody, they were always right there to see if we needed anything.
The day in the Bahamas was nice -- we went to Paradise Island and to Atlantis.
If/when we do this again though, we will just stay on the ship and enjoy all
that it has to offer. Atlantis was a bit of a rip-off in our minds. You have to
pay a $30.00 fee per person if you want to go on their "private beach" or walk
through the aquarium there. We declined.
We were in the Bahamas approximately 2-3 hours and then went back to the ship.
It is also nice when you are in port because so many people are off the ship,
that it is nice and peaceful on board.
The "day at sea" is a bit more crazy with kids running around by the pools.
We didn't sign up for any excursions -- we procrastinated with what we wanted to
do so we missed it. Next time, we will probably do some sort of snorkeling
excursion since my husband is interested in that. I just enjoy soaking up the
sun!
We could not have asked for a more perfect cruise -- the weather, the ocean, the
atmosphere, everything was just perfect. I have heard that Carnival Fantasy was
recently refurbished and if so, it shows. It was beautiful and it was constantly
being cleaned and polished throughout the trip.
My husband can be very picky and he also loved this trip. The food was delicious
and plenty of it! When you call room service, no matter what time it is, five
minutes later they are knocking on your door! We were very spoiled...
I haven't cruised in years and was a bit nervous so a short 4-day cruise was
perfect for me. The debarkation process was always smooth...did not take as long
as I thought it would at all. I would recommend Carnival to anybody! Happy
Cruising!
