My wife and I met on a Carnival cruise 16 years ago. We decided to take our two daughters on a cruise similar to the one we met on for spring break this year. Our adventure begin quite well. We did lose one of our bags when we boarded, but my wife find it across the ship from our room - lying in a hallway. Our kids loved the attention and activities on board. Our 12 year old did become extremely ill on our second night. The ship nurse was very helpful and met us at the clinic at 0500 to give us the needed medication. Our kids claim this to be the best vacation ever, and we would have gladly returned next year but for our experience the last day of the cruise. We had driven down to Miami and thus were instructed to pick up our luggage in the holding area. The minute we got off the ship the baggage help started rushing us to go to the car. Finally he assured us we had all of our luggage and we were off. After we arrived home we immediately noticed that one of our bags were missing. We immediately notified the cruise line and were assured that our luggage would be found. This continued for a couple of weeks during which time they kept assuring us that it would show up, and that all luggage has to go to customs now. Well eventually they admitted they were not going to find our luggage. We had lost between four - five hundred dollars worth of clothing. The cruise line has shown a total lack of concern or willingness to help us locate our belongings. At one point we were told we would be compensated for the loss. We again waited patiently for several weeks. Now we have been told that they are not going to do anything and basically tough luck. I know that items get lost, but the total lack of regard with which they have handled this has been incredible. We plan to cruise again next spring break and highly recommend it for teenagers, but definitely not aboard a carnival cruise line. FYI The couple that were traveling with us also lost a credit card on board. We searched the room over, completely emptied the closet, and finally reported to the card company before going to dinner. Upon return to the room the card was found laying in the middle of the closet floor. It was certainly not there when we left the room.
