Itinerary: Western Caribbean
My husband and I booked this trip to
celebrate our 8th year wedding anniversary. Last year we took a 7 day cruise on
Carnival's Victory to the Eastern Caribbean. Needless to say we loved it so much
that I've spend the past year looking for another cruise to go on. Unfortunately
a 7 day cruise was not in our budget this year so we decided to take a shorter
one. I read Cruise Reviews all of the time and I just want to say that I think
you can have a good time if you want to. We had a GREAT time on the Fascination.
Embarkation was a breeze. We were on the ship in less than 40 minutes. The two
comedians on board with us were hilarious! I don't think I've ever laughed so
hard before, maybe the number of drinks that I had helped, but that's a whole
other story. Nassau- We got up Saturday morning, had breakfast and headed out
for Paradise Island. We walked about one block away from the port where we found
a duty free liquor store where my husband bought himself 2 Cuban cigars for $20,
not bad. We flagged down a taxi and took a short 10 minute (or less) ride to
Paradise Island. Atlantis is BEAUTIFUL! We're from Miami and you'd think that
we've seen beautiful beach front hotels before but this one is just out of this
world. I took pictures to show family members but the pictures don't do its
justice. I had read reviews from past cruisers that said not to take the
Atlantis tour of "The Dig" because of it's price tag, $30. Let me tell you, I
was not planning on it, but when I walked into that lobby I had to see what else
there was so we booked it. It was worth it! The fish that are housed in Atlantis
are beautiful! The most amazing fish they have is a 1000lb stingray named Zeus.
He is only a year and half old and has a wing span of 10ft! He is expected to
double his size in a couple of years, amazing to see! You have to see him. They
give you a bracelet when you book the tour that says that you don't have access
to their pools or beaches, but we walked right out to their beach, rented beach
chairs ordered drinks from "their" bar and had no problems at all. After a few
hours on the beach we headed back to the hotel for our Captain's dinner. The
Captain's dinner on a 3 night cruise is McDonald's compared to the 7 night
cruise, but come on, what else did you expect for $260? We went to dinner
expecting lobster and we got beef Wellington. I'm not complaining though, it was
really good. After dinner we walked around the ship and headed out for the
nightclub. There is one thing that I have to tell you about these short cruises,
it's full of party people. The club was packed to the fullest every night. We
had a blast! We left the club at 4:30am and had some of Carnival's famous 24
hour pizza! On our day at sea we just relaxed in the Jacuzzi and gambled a
little in the casino. Overall this was a great cruise! We have two small
children and are already planning to cruise on the Carnival Liberty in May with
the kids for the first time. I can hardly wait!
I highly recommend cruising period! Remember what I said earlier, If you don't
have fun it's because you didn't want to.
Bon Voyage!
