Itinerary: 5-day to Mexico
My husband, his mother and I went on a 5-day cruise out of New Orleans to Mexico
on July 17. First let me say that this was our third cruise and we were a little
nervous because of the ship being smaller than our other cruise ships and much
older. We went out of New Orleans because this was the closest port to my
in-laws home. I also read some of the reviews and was worried. Were we
surprised! Going out of New Orleans was a breeze compared to Miami and Tampa. It
took us about an hour from the time we parked and were on board. Everything ran
really smooth. Going out the Mississippi was rough as I had read so I was
prepared. The ship itself was very clean. Our rooms were great considering we
had three in the room. We never felt cramped. The room steward was good as well.
I use a wash cloth and if you want one, bring one with you. We were told they
were few and far between. We finally received one the last day of our cruise.
The lounges were very nice and the entertainment was good. I wish they did have
some sort of entertainment the last night other than the talent show. It was
really bad. The Cruise Director was the same one we had last year on the
Inspiration, Lenny Halliday. He was wonderful. The food was excellent. No
complaints there. We ate in the Dining Room for breakfast and dinner each day. I
did notice each time we were in the Dining Room that it vibrated constantly. It
is obviously above the engine room. The first night it bothered me but you get
use to it. We did have lunch in the Cafe and that was good as well. My husband
and I were a little disappointed with the work out facility. Very small - 4
treadmills, two benches and some weights. There were a few weights missing so it
wasn't really possible for us to lift but we did get on the treadmills a couple
times. Again, we knew the boat was small and expected a small workout facility.
Our stops were Playa del Carmen and since we were there before and did the Mayan
Ruin tour we opted to just shop. By the way, the Mayan ruins were beautiful so
take that tour if you are thinking about it. We also took my Mother In Law with
us so excursions weren't possible. Lots of shopping! We did the same in Cozumel
as we had been there a few times before. Overall we had a great time. I would
recommend this cruise to everyone.
