Itinerary: Western Caribbean
I sailed to the Western Carribean with 46 of my closest friends----and had the
time of my life! I was the leader of a ladies group from our church. Most of us
had never sailed before. The youngest in our group was 11 and the oldest was 92.
And there was something to do for everyone. I thought I'd spend my days lazily
reading by the pool----boy was I wrong. There were fun activities that kept us
busy all day long.
I did the Mayan ruins of Tulum in Playa del Carmen. The tour wasn't that
impressive but the beach view at the ruins was absolutely spectacular. In
Cozumel I went snorkeling. I was a little nervous because I'm only a mediocre
swimmer. It was absolutely fantastic and the snorkeling guides were wonderful.
It was the most amazing experience I've ever had!
The food on the Wharf restaurant was okay (not spectacular). I suggest eating
breakfast in the formal dining room. I really enjoyed the dining room experience
every night, also. I tried lots of new foods like escargot, squid, and sushi.
For dessert I chose Baked Alaska and souffle. The waiters are great and provide
great entertainment.
I went to all the shows but one and they were all very fun. Even the talent show
was really good. Our cruise director, Paul, kept us rolling in the aisles the
whole trip. If he was there, you knew you were going to have a great time.
If you go to the shopping talk sit near the front and you're sure to get a free
gift. I entered the excusion raffle and won an excusion valued at $59.
There are photographers all over the ship taking pictures. I thought I wouldn't
get sucked into buying photos, but I did. The photographers are really good and
I ended up spending 50 bucks on photos.
Some reviewers complained that the Holiday is small. I can't imaging finding my
way around a bigger boat! It took 3 days to figure out my way around! Despite
all the eating I only gained 1 pound on the trip---probably because of all the
walking up and down stairs.
And one of the best things about the ship was the comfortable beds. My bed was
great. Soft mattress, two fluffy pillows, and a down comforter.
I had a really great time. I can't wait to go back----this time with my husband.
I've already started looking for cruise deals for the summer.
