Horrible. Our cabin had not been cleaned. Heavy smoke smell and ashtray outside the door on the rail. Dirty socks, beds not made, toe nail clippings....Yes, toenail clippings in the Portal/window area. Dirty vanity and used ice bucket. Drinks not stocked. Housekeeping had to strip the entire room and put a machine inside to try to get rid of smoke. Plumbing stopped working for 10 hours the first full day at sea. Horrible sewage stench the entire sailing. Reddish brown water. We were later informed by crew member that this boat has old pipes that need to be replaced. What we are seeing is rust. Our air conditioning vent circulated the sewage smell when turned on. We found a old dirty rag stuffed into the vent.
Guest Services very unhelpful. We were labeled as "difficult passengers" when we complained. Cruise did not port in Cozumel because of Swine flu. We were at sea for four days with full capacity and a plumbing system that does not work. It was miserable. Everyone we spoke with could not wait to get off the boat. Two staff members spoke with us the last night. They said they are not given ample time to clean rooms before the next passengers board the boat. It was implied that some rooms do not receive the cleaning needed. I have been on older cruise ships, that show some wear. However, they have always been extremely clean. The Holiday is an older vessel, showing its age. This is not the issue. The issue is the sanitary conditions. They are sadly lacking.

The food in the main dinning room was excellent and the staff great. The buffet was mediocre. Room service unadviseable.

Not many activities and they were not prepared to entertain the entire boat for four days at sea.

We were unable to port because of the Swine Flu.

This is my fourth Carnival Cruise. The previous three were very enjoyable. The horrible expererience on the Holiday would not have stopped me from crusing with Carnival again. However, the horrible customer service and unconcerned response from Guest Services does. I will take my business elswhere.
