This cruise was my first time on Carnival as I wasn't expecting much. When we entered our stateroom, it smelled of cigarette smoke. We asked for the situation to be fixed. Within an hour, the crew was working on it and by that night, the smell was gone.

Food in restuarant was pretty good but seating for "Your Choice" dining was not great (Norwegian spoiled us with their Freestyle). The buffet set-up was awful! There were long lines and no tables available when we finally did get our food. It was very frustrating, especially since the restuarant was closed for lunch on port days. My wife and I called it the "feeding trough". Food was pretty good in the dining room, especially the desserts. It was OK at the buffet, but the set-up at the buffets were horrible!! One day the buffet even ran out of ice!! Not good.

The entertainment was top notch, better than Norwegian and Royal Carribean. Non-smoking areas on the decks need to be better enforced. My wife and I were constantly having to report violators who were polluting the air.

There was a nice variety of activities and plenty of them.

Chankanaab is a nice stop in Cozumel, and Carnival should have an excursion choice with just transportation and admission.

My wife and I were sans kids for our 20th anniversary. We were nervous about sailing with Carnival since we had heard so much about it being the "party" line, and we're not partiers. Overall, we enjoyed it. We did not like the buffet set-up. Service overall was pretty good. Entertainment was excellent. If I had a choice between Norwegian and Carnival, would still go with Norwegian if price was the same. The Imagination was good for the money though.
