On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rank this cruise a 5.5. My wife and I are in our late twenties/early thirties, and we felt old due to the younger people who treated the cruise like a college frat party. A lot of hidden cost, in my opinion, and not a lot of value. To be fair, their photography crew did an excellent job, and some of the best pictures of my wife and I were from this cruise. Tonya, our waitress, was one of the best I've seen in the restaurant industry. However, something needs to be done about the water they serve and the eggs, which was the worst I've ever had in my life. A quick story, I had a traveler's check to cash at the information desk. The girl at the desk (I'll withhold her name) offered me a pen to sign the check. The pen didn't work, so I handed it back to her. She shook it and scribbled on a scrap piece of paper, than got it somewhat working and handed it back. I started signing my name, then it gave out again. Of course, I shook the pen while she gave me a piece of paper to sign on top of. I finally signed my name, then she refused to take my check! I couldn't believe it. She said my signature didn't match. It was as close as it would match with the pen not working, and I had identification to prove who I was, and my wife standing next to me to also sign the check, and she was like Dr. Jekle and Mr. Hyde. This was the last night of the cruise, and we were running low on paper funds. I still cannot believe how she acted towards my wife and me, nor why she wouldn't take our traveler's check. I talked with some other guest about it, and they told me about a comment she made under her breath to them about "stupid Americans." I guess Carnival should screen it's foreign employees a little better since Americans made up a majority of the guests.
I have to agree about earlier comments about the rooms being small and two beds pushed together, but the housekeeping department did a great job taking care of us. It was as nice as a four-star hotel in my opinion. The cruise ship itself stunk, like a mildew or mold. Plus, there was some septic problems during the cruise which really contributed to the musty smell.
Overall, the cruise was okay. I want to go on another one, but with a different line. From most of the older guest on the cruise we talked with who had sailed other ships, that seemed to be the general consensus.
