Itinerary: Cozumel

I just returned from sailing on the Inspiration with my son with mixed feelings. I agree that this vessel is for the economy crowd, which was what I was looking for this time. As for the kids, families need vacation time too so I would suggest that folks that don't enjoy the younger ones, choose to cruise when the kids are in school. I did not notice a particularly large group of intoxicated folks, there were a few, but they weren't obnoxious. The kids were 'kids.' The staff does try very hard to make your vacation enjoyable, and my heart breaks for them as they work such long hours.

I was most disappointed with the food overall. I have been on another Carnival ship and although the food wasn't gourmet, it was enjoyable. I felt the food didn't qualify for a 'Golden Corral' rating this time around. Most of it was overdone and the appearance as well as the taste lacked. The dining room staff for the most part appeared weary. Not so much the waiters, but the ones who seat you. We booked late so had no choice in the late seating. It took so long to get served, we didn't return after the first night. The deli did make a decent sandwhich. My son had pizza several times, but it didn't appeal to me. We ate dinners on the Lido deck. For this reason, I am not sure I would sail on the Inspiration again. I just hope not all of Carnival's ships have gone downhill with the meals. The food to me was more about quantity, not quality. I guess it saved me a few pounds. ;)

I was assigned an upper deck outside cabin which I thought was fantastic! There was a pretty, roomy, nice size bathroom. The TV was great and the layout of the twins was perfect for us. There was no mini fridge, but the steward was excellent on maintaining the room. We had a bucket of ice with 6 choices of soda, and a large bottle of water.

The shows were a bit cheesy but we were entertained. I feel the Spa is very overpriced even with the specials they offer. I booked a special and won't do it again. There's a bit of pressure to buy products that are very expensive.

The exercise equipement was great! Around 6 treadmills, and 5 ellipticals, plus weights and a couple bikes. The pool was swamped with people and if you don't get there early, you won't have a place to sit/lay. Even the whirpool was loaded with bodies.

There appeared enough to keep folks busy. We enjoyed the comedy shows, adult entertainment. I seemed to miss the opening of the library as it's only open for select hours, so read the daily schedule. There are board games in the library too. I thought the price for wi-fi was on the high side so didn't use it.

We didn't book any shore tours but opted to take a taxi to downtown Cozumel. I'm not sure it was worth it. It was $7 each way. My son and I ate at the pier at 'The Three Amigos'. We had 2 fancy tropical drinks (large), nachos, and chimichangas and the bill came to $70. Pricey but the food was excellent.

To sum it up, we had a fun time and I don't regret sailing on the Inspiration. We used 'self-assist' to disembark which was great! We took our own luggage off and sailed through customs.
